The active sub was great with the previous set up, The problem comes them new speakers are loud
![]() ![]() They give out nearly as much base as the sub, but that isn't enough when you start to turn it up. I'll have a play and try and alter the settings a bit, but think I already know the route i'll be taking ultimately ! |

Good to hear. I take it a US made brand? If so they sure as hell know how to make powerful audio kit over there.!

Yes they are from the USA. They were big on the scene 15 Years ago IIRC. Really pleased, the boxes are big, but don't intrude too much for my needs, and when covered will blend in alot better, and the sound more than makes up for it.

Pictures would be ace. What covering are you going to use carpeting or leatherette type stuff? If you go carpet please go Jet Black.

Was thinking that rubber checker matting. You can see it on the tub sides. Got some aluminium angle to cover the joins, which I will spray black. Failing that it will be BLACK acoustic cloth
![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge Just feel the rubber will be different and match the other, being more practical and feel more OEM ![]() |

That looks great. How are you finding the clearance with the rear of the seat? TheThunder Rollsπ¬π§πΊπΈ

Not too much of an issue. We are not the largest, the center seat is fixed and when we go out, the wife has to sit in the middle !! It still goes all the way back on the runners.

Good to hear. When I was fitting my bits and pieces I found the biggest issue was finding the room to fit everything. That said it is possible and in the end can be made really neat. Far better than it looking like it's just been connected up and shoved anywhere. TheThunder Rollsπ¬π§πΊπΈ

No it'd be painstakingly working with fibreglass instead which I've never done but that's what I'd go with if I did and then paint. bBut a lot of work to do with that and a pain having to wear loves and masks when sanding ect. Presides rounded curved shapes don't suit a Defender.

You'd also struggle on the size, and struggle to get thee density of material for the sound. Did a bit years ago, and sandwiched plastercine between layers . Good but not the same. Its also very hard to get a good finish, that dose not age, distort or crack over time.

I don't dis-believe it. I expect also any bending or movement could create a crack too. Especially in paint when installing. TheThunder Rollsπ¬π§πΊπΈ

covered the enclosures today. Wanted to spray the ali black, but a bit cold, and probably not that practical. Its a working landy and I think it will look nice black but worse once it has a couple of scratches and chips

Top work! I'd leave as is personally as from a colour coding point of view as it isn't silver in a sea of black. If you do them black they would look nice but as you say will likely get scratched and then look really bad. + you'd ideally need black screws or at least I would anyway.
