If the scangauge doesn't allow you to clear a dtc you can always do a hard reset. Disconnect the earth lead off the battery and press the brake a couple of times to discharge any stored capacitanc ... |

As documented it IS a common fault. Dismantle the switch and have a look at the detailed contact, or just ignore it until the switch fails, probably at the most inconvenient time!...

and dont forget that by pulling the EGR plug the ECU will calculate on average maps for fuel/air mixture as if the EGR is broken and has no influence.
