I was looking at a few from NENE OVERLAND. They look like they run a pretty good dealership over there so im not overly worried about the condition, or maybe im to trusting in people... The more and more i look the More my budget goes up ! The more my budget goes up the more my wife is putting the tension on my neck !! I started off thinking " Ok im gonna be sensible and find a 110 for about £12-15k, now im up to £20K and even considering pushing that to £23 !!! DAMN YOU LAND ROVER |

I did see this when i googled Nene, but to be honest the ammount of dealers that actually do this is mind boggling.. I guess this guy just got caught this time, but to me personally it doesn't say anything about the quality of his Landrovers though. |

I think good Scottish dealers are a bit thin on the ground.
Glowing reports on here for Lookers Park Royal (London) and I can also highly recommend Roger Young, Saltash (nr Plymouth). Both a long way for you but less of a mission than buying a duffer! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

If you can wait i am restoring a td5 110 in Java black!
I had a similar dilema, wanted a new one for old money! So i bought / px'd an older td5 and have spent thousands on it to bring it up to scratch.Mechanicals will always require attention, new or old. But bodywork on a defender really is the key to happyness. So new doors, new roof, new bulkhead and a complete respray are the only way to get a "new" looking defender tht will hold its money. For me my circumstances have changed.....self employed, been poor, now better so i have decided to buy new, keep ontop of the known issues, swallow the depreciation and use it for what its designed for. So loaded up to the gunnels with kit, kids and dogs on holiday, some longer expeditions to far flung corners of europe and hauling stuff about when we finally sell up and start living the dream So the choice is yours, put more money in and get a newish one, buy an old one for a couple of grand and do a rolling restoration or buy a jeep |

No, the Pumas (from 2007) were all £460 per year - along with other behicles in the same bracket. The 2011 models are only £210 due to N1 classifiacation. Do a LOT of research on prices and after sales support before buying from Nene. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Was Riders, Truro, now Carrs Truro (Cornwall - a LOOONG way but you can fly to Newquay!). I was in yesterday and it was still there. Has a roof rack too. Can't seem to get their Used vehicle locator to find any of their stock but their number is 01872 263377. Yep - post 2006 (i.e. all Pumas/TDCis) are £460 a year RFL. They were re-classified on 2011 from M1 to N1 and are now £200 a year. I think some have found that insurance has risen with the new N1 type though. That's what I tell myself anyway!! So a 120ish bhp vehicle that does 0-60 in around 14.5 seconds in the same bracket as a Veyron... Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion. |

If you ignore where it gets a bit heated and wanders OT, you'll find the thread below quite a good source of mostly sensible views of Td5 v Puma.
http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic7174.html Many of the posters on there have owned Defenders through the various Diesel engine guises tdi/td5/puma and so their views hold most weight IMHO. On balance, I would say that as an everyday drive, the Disco 3.... errr.... no ... wait... I mean Puma, came out on top. Love my Td5 mainly because owning it over a Puma winds up my missus, who wanted a bit more 'refinement' (I assume that she meant the truck and not me.... probably both!) Good luck with the search Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |

I also enjoy my Td5 enormously, particularly the 5-cylinder engine note. It's also pleasantly agricultural whilst retaining enough sophistication for everyday use - just.
Puma will no doubt be more refined and 'car-like', but less characterful I guess. Depends what you want from your Defender really, I can see the merits of either. I am fully aware of the irony of all this, in that in 10 years we'll be on about how the Puma is characterful and the electro-hybrid DC100 or whatever is the more practical everyday car. A bit like when the Td5 came out, etc etc.... |

Cheers for the link mate... I guess in the end it really boils down with your preference, so I'll just keep looking until i find the right one for me. My gut feeling tells me that when i see it i will know |

Your exactly right there and its always going to be the same with every new version that they come out with... For me its always been a childhood dream to own one, but i just never had the chance to just be able to act on it until now so for me it doens't matter whether its a td5 or puma cause in my eyes all iv ever wanted is to own either one |
