2005 Defender 110 2.5 TD DCPU Belize Green
Changing fuel filter housing
Hi guys,

How easy do the pipes (2005) come off the fuel filter housing? I need to replace this as the mount has corroded and broken.

Does the cover slide back then clips press it to remove each one?

How easy are the old bolts to remove?

Im planning to take the rear wheel off to make access easier.

Yes just be very careful as they can become brittle and break. Also the bolts will probably be corroded as well. Changed mine a few years back for a billet type filter housing as apparently the standard ones can become porous

The Gore replacement filter head is much better manufactured than the standard part. However they are £106!

If the original survived 18 years off spray from the rear wheel, I think it is not a bad part. Roel

Give it a good clean up with degreaser and a jet washer. Once nice and clean allow to dry and then soak everything in Plus Gas. Leave for at least 24 hours and then everything will disassemble very easily.

the TD5 filter housing is obsolete from LR now. Just be careful with the aftermarket ones they have been known to blow the pipes off!
