Save or get a big cardboard box, flatten it and place under under anything you are draining into.
If doing on the drive you will find that as the oil flow reduces to a fine flow or dribble wind can blow it so it misses even the biggest containers. The cardboard will absorb this. Once it’s done it’s job a few times bin or in my case burn in fire pit, then get another big cardboard box to flatten and repeat. Has worked for me for many years and no mishaps on the drive.

Under bed storage boxes make a good drain pan, collecting drips over a wide area.

Your a brave man with that set up I think i would need a drain spigot or the drive would look like a Jackson pollock and her in doors would get creative with my testicles.........not in a good way Big Cry

If by awkward you mean filling the gearbox, by far the easiest way is to get circa 1.8m of 12mm od clear tube, feed into the filler hole from the engine bay ensuring no dips and it’s supported, place a funnel in the tube, measure your oil in a measuring jug, pour the oil and let gravity do the work. Cheap, simple and accurate.

Hello everyone

I have just had my gearbox changed, I had the oil changed a few years ago, I have drained almost 3 liters. I had unscrewed the filling screw and the oil flowed at this level. I added Kennol 75w FE oil using the syringe with the 500ml elbow tip so I refilled it about 4 and a half times. which makes around 2,250l in the gearbox.



the oil has the following specifications
SAE 75W-
API GL-4/GL-5/MT-1
PSA B71 2310
MERCEDES MB 235.73
FORD WSS-M2C200-D2

Hi Have been given two options for the Diff oil on our 2.4 puma

Could anyone recommend an oil that i could use in my diffs/trans/gearbox?

It worked with a 2008 Puma.
That was how I did mine although I used copper pipe with a 90 degrees joint at the end.

I do the same on my 2.2 Puma . I use a 1.2m length of 12mm outside diameter clear plastic tube with a funnel connected from the engine bay, worked perfect to fill the gearbox and very easy to do. Just measure the exact quantity of oil ( 2.2L for 2.4 and 2.4L for 2.2 according to manuals !!!) you need and as you say, let gravity do the work.
