because of a childhood trauma: my parent's Ford 12m ran out of fuel in the middle of nowhere!, namely the vast voids of a German motorway in the 1980...

Pretty regularly I put 70 litres in mine, but thatβs shortly after the light comes on. Iβve never pushed it further! Roaming around π³π΄π¨π

2.2 Pumas have bigger tanks at about 75 liters as per the specs in the brochure.
2.4 Pumas, for some reason, have smaller tanks at about 73 liters as per the specs in the brochure. I have a 2.4 Puma and the most milage I had from full to 1/4 left in the tank is about 600 kilometers give or take. Half tank is almost always at 300-ish kilometers. I've never run the tank below 1/4 to empty. The only time this happened to me is when I picked up the truck from the car lot I bought it from and it was nearly empty, probably to prevent any car thieves from getting to far with it. I was stuck in a slow moving traffic jam and had to pull into the first service station I saw to give him his first full tank of diesel under my care.  |

We still do not have a definitive answer to the capacity question...
What I can state is that in my Puma 2.4 I just filled it up right after the reserve light came on: 71 liters. Manual says that there is about 9 liters in the reserve. We might infere that the capacity is 80 liters. For info here are the milage at each gauge level I have observed driving on highway at about 2250 rpm with some push at 2500 rpm, mostly in 6th gear, and when I had to down shift for traffic jams and than re accelerate I almost always gear up around 2250 rpm: 1/4: 250km 1/2: 450km 3/4: 620km 3/4+50%: 700km Reserve light on: 760km, fill up with 71.00 liters. Average 9.3L/100km at a cruising speed 105kph |

Curious, given that the part number is the same for a 2.2 and 2.4 as far as I know, and there is more stuff inside the tank on a 2.2 (specifically a fuel pump) which means it must hold less fuel! It is, I think, most likely to be random piffle and guesswork in the brochure. |

The 90 fuel tank is smaller, I can't remember how much smaller. When I had a 90, I easily managed 320 miles at 30mpg. In my 110, I get 400 miles at 28mpg, so quite a bit smaller.
