I was going to suggest a split pipe, leaking joint, manifold or similar but you've probably sussed the probable cause. Steve.

depending on the width, you could possibly put a solid tube in the middle and use jubilee clips to repair it ?

Yes it was the repaired split pipe MOG
The pipe is very short with a kink in it Steve so difficult to repair. I'll see if anyone has one off a scrappy on a SAAB forum and failing that dig out the dosh! - my wife has gone whistling away in it anyway, shouldn't do any harm until I fix it properly...another one of my not so good temporary fixes trying to save money |
