For your general amusement. Spent a bit of time wondering about the joys of rain water running down the pillars and into the door seals. So new seals fitted and dum dum all of which works rather well . So have if stood in the rain watching it poor out of the gutter down the side and into the seal I thought..,I’d have a play with extending the gutter. I’ve some side panels left from fitting side lockers and window. I wanted something fairly discreet.

Can we see more details on this? The original post I saved no longer has the details and does not make any sense anymore. I've recently been having water in the front passenger side (right side, I'm LHD) I've sealed the roof seams and the windscreen to firewall seam. Even renewed the seals behind the window blocks. For some reason, I'm still getting water in there. I'm hoping this mod, long over due actually, can remedy my problems.

Hardcharger, sounds like your having the same issue I've had previously. Dealer traced is back to water getting in through the heater in take. They sealed around the join circled (badly) in the pic below and fixed the issue

Its hard to see in that photo ..does that trunking stop the water dripping and sends it back along the guttering? |

I don't think so, as the gutter would eventually overflow.
It's more about redirecting the flow. I found a picture of my dum-dum bodge (on the pop-top's lower gutter which is very similar to the original). The water usually takes the orange path and into the door seal. The black lump diverts it along the blue line, you can barely see it, down the A pillar. |

Nice shot ..mate . That’s the issue I was having having extended the gutter mine now flows out onto the screen and away from the A pillar..

hi thanks from the picture i wasn't sure if the gutter was open allowing the rain to fall down the screen(white arrow looked like a hole) Very clear now and great mod..what did you paint it with?

I've not previously heard of the joint identified in the picture letting water in, but the joint between the duct from the wing to the heater fan box and the fan box itself is notorious for leaking. It has a rectangular foam seal which on many vehicles is squashed flat on one side but doesn't fill the gap on the other.

I've just stumbled across this thread, for the avoidance of doubt, is the trunking mod simply to provide something for the water to drip off as shown in blue? I know water has a tendency to track back along the gutter and drip into the footwell (as shown in red).

Not sure about that trunking .. mine extends over the rubber .. and since that and sealing the gap between the bulkhead and wing I’ve had two dry footwells ever since.
