Ive ordered one a V8 110. Its hardly related to the original Defender, and I have a 2015 90 that I love. For our family it is a replacement for a luxury SUV and we did not want to wait for new Range and SVR Sport is also due to expire . I see it as a slightly less aggressive G63. In that light it looks reasonable if a car at this price is normal. In any other light mad. But , I want to enjoy these crazy things before we go silent. But I do agree with sentiment, this is not really a Defender, it is something else, more a Discovery replacement. Still, it makes the true Defender look a steal at the prices they command. Mine is a 2015 20 k miles , maybe it would get £30 k . It steals the show when out and about.

Anyway, I love Landrover, I have had so many, never had any quality issues everyone talks about, and still think it is one of the finest brands and vehicle ranges in the world. Question, what other company has multiple vehicles you can identify ? I can clealry see every Landrover product. Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Aston ? They all look the same.

Good luck with the V8. Here’s my D250 differentials in drift mode

What do you want to know? I guarantee you the lot of us here know more about it that any dealer Rolling with laughter

Same 5L AVJ8 engine that's been in the RR/RRS for a decade or so, some software trick to allow you to drift in Dynamic Mode, rear e-diff is standard, smallest rim size is 20", a fancy colour paintjob, the touchscreen is bigger (might be an option though)...

I think that's about it.

My dealer has told me the US 2022 order book isn’t open for V8s until April, but not much more.

In terms of options, there really aren’t many. I think the roof rails aren’t being allowed because of the top speed, but my guess is you’ll be able to add them after the fact as I’d be very surprised if they completely removed the hardware in the shell to mount them.

Compressor is a stand alone dealer installed accessory so I think you’ll be able to include.

I wonder if it’s as raw sounding as my 550 SVR or if they toned it down like the 575 SVR exhaust valve button ?

If you put roof rack on the v8 I think there will be insurance issues if you had a accident.

Hasn’t there been new regulations put in place for the noise out of exhausts? The Audi RS cars don’t sound half as loud as they used to and I’m sure the defender v8 is using amplified sound inside the car to make it sound louder than it actually is.

I really hope it’s not all amplified I’m still not sure if I want to get rid of my SVR mostly because I love the noise it makes but thought the defender would be a great replacement with the same engine

If you declared it at the time of taking out the insurance and it's accepted then surely not; and if they declined insurance on the basis you wanted to fit a rack, then you would have your answer.

Given maximum speed limit in UK is 70mph (IoM excluded) should it matter that the max speed of the vehicle is way north of that, as the other engined variants of the Defender are already?

I expect the roof loading is related to the changes made to improve handling rather than the top speed. Bigger anti roll bars and a suspension tune for performance would probably lead to issues when performing an elk test for example.
