Transit 3.2tdci into a 2.2tdci
I’ve read all or most of the posts here regarding the 3.2tdci conversion and there is very little light shed on it. I’m capable of doing most of the work but I’m looking for someone who can shed some light on mating the wiring for the 3.2 to the 2.2.I have a full transit 3.2 to take wiring etc from but I’m looking to keep the wiring as neat and tidy as possible using as little as I really need of the transit harness. Can anyone help or shed a little light.

If he’s on here I would be interested in buying a harness and some information from him

ok so today we spoke to bell auto services today regarding the conversion and he gave some good pointers into what is required to make it work from transit which is more than I expected luckily I have the full transit and had it running before it was removed, so i have a good start.

I've thought about this as a potential replacement if/when the 2.4 goes bang...

Out of interest and given that the wiring is likely to be a headache anyway, is there a particular reason why you are keen to use the 3.2 rather than something better performing from another manufacturer like BMW or Mercedes for example? > 110 XS Double Cab

No real reason other than the transit came for sale local. Bare in mind with the wiring, I have a full running transit to use for bits so it should potentially run in a frame never mind the Landrover when it’s all stripped and put back together on the floor. granted there are obvious obstacles like abs to deal with and the PATS security from the transit which I may be wrong here but I’m sure it involves the clocks which will need to be wired to the Landrover clocks.

Try Forscan for the Ford side of any issues, download it for free and buy a full licence and access the transits as built files. I added cruise control and deleted the stupid mykey function on my work car, a 2016 Fiesta. Ford dealer wanted almost £400 telling me they'd have to wipe the 1 key I had and reprogramme it and a new master key. Took me less than an hr to do both key and CC addition. It won't do PATS for obvious reasons

Pictures will follow later or maybe tomorrow but an eventful day getting the engine running on the floor there’s a lot of the transit required, a lot more than I expected. Next a process of eliminating what I will be using, obvious things like lights and heater/ blowers can be removed from the harness, but unsure whether I should be keeping things like e windows, ac etc. I’m going to try using the abs from the transit and used the wheel sensors that’s already on the defender as this could save a lot of work and head ache later trying to keep more of the defender than I should. Also I’m unsure whether to use the cruise control from the transit, I think I may cause a safety issue if I use it and can’t get it to turn off automatically or at least it may cause a little panic.

I will be putting a tread together of pics and how things are going for those interested, the post has had a little bit traffic in the few days it’s been up so I will keep you posted.
