All good stuff except for the K&N filter. Some years ago, Pete Bell did some dyno tests of different filters and concluded that the OE paper one is the best of the bunch. Plus, the oil on K&N's, IGT's etc. have been known to gum up the MAF sensor. Darren

I had a piper cross air filter years ago and you had to put oil on it, it was a load rubbish and the difference when i put a K & N filter on was so much better, BUT i have never put any oil on the K & N filter's and find them breath better than the paper one's that i have tried
This is my opinion and what i have personally found over the years with all my vehicle's 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

That's interesting to know about the K&N
I'll keep monitoring it for now and next time round look at an original if it's no different |

Re jigged the pipe work now it’s fitted to the wingtop to stop it rubbing on the alternator bolt.
I drilled 2 holes in the arch plastic and run a jubilee clip through it to pull it tight to the wheel arch. Click image to enlarge With the exhaust bandage it stops the duct being crushed . I did finish the install of the tune and, to put it politely, it goes like off a stick now.
Air intake upgraded to 100mm intake pipe from the wingtop including airbox mod K&N filter BAS intercooler BAS silicone pipes BAS Tune EGR blank De cat and mid box removed From 1400RPM - 3000rpmish it pulls like a train The pipe de cat and mid box didn't make much difference but it does sound abit more fruity now The only downside is i tend to become heavier on the right foot Next job is timing chain replacement and i may drop the head off for valve cleaning as it's all full of from the EGR and crankcase breather. I have toyed with the turbo upgrade but it doesn't seem worth it other than maybe having further pull after 3200 rpm where mine starts to fall off the torque curve. It's not a racing toy |

We had a moment on Friday and went shopping at the local paint shop....
There’s still lots to do at the rear end but the roof will be coming off to get it into the workshop for that part Last edited by Badger110 on 21st Feb 2021 6:31pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Indeed they were!
I have gone through several styles of 2nd row doors and finally went with some new ones from sp4x4 which required painting. We were looking to change the colour from Buckingham Blue to something a little different and well, I think we’ve done that 😁 |

Taking shape there now with the new colour, what colour are you going to be doing the wheels or are having different rims 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Still not sure on the wheels, wife wants Sawtooths, I want Blindos but I'm happy with the Wolf's, even if they sit inside the arch's
As for colour, I'll go for satin black..I think green will make it look tacky |
