That's the speedo drive, get a wood chisel under the lip and prise the thimble out, remove the drive gear, replace O ring, replace.

Thought I'd share the reason for my leak...
Super worn shaft on the internal oil shaft seal. Photos below. I'll order a new one so the shaft is new and ungrooved and won't leak I think and change the O ring also in the process. I'm currently trying to figure out which bits are serviced and which aren't.

I'd change the seal and o ring, Matt, and see how you get on.

Yeah looks identical to ours.
I ordered all the bits and fitted but don't yet know if it's fixed as our MOT isn't booked till the end of the week. But it's now all new so it should do. I fitted a new oil seal, a new O-ring, and due to my Speedo shaft being pitted where the seal runs, a new Speedo gear and shaft. My logic was that the oil seal would have a hard time sealing against a pitted shaft. Wasn't expensive. Talk to Dan at duckworths and tell him you want the same Speedo bits he did for me and he should be able to post straight out. This is the list... Click image to enlarge And it should represent the following... Speedo gear. CHECK YOURS IS BLUE BEFORE ORDERING! (there are both blue and green and a few other colours. The LR record for what was in ours was wrong, don't go by dealer record. Whip it out, check colour of yours, then order. Mine was blue. Click image to enlarge The oil seal for the shaft... Click image to enlarge And the O-ring for the main housing. Haven't got a decent shot of that. Do check with Dan before you order. I'm 99%sure that's the PN list but I also ordered half a dozen other things on the same invoice so there's risk I've got the wrong PNs selected. |

Great thanks. Best to take it apart before then to check the gear condition/colour. I would imagine my gear has the same wear as yours if it’s leaking... we’ll see.
