Busy couple of weekends on the TD5.

Prep work for the upcoming MOT. Both swivels replaced and bearings etc. Not the nicest job but wasn't the worst once everything was undone. Painted the hubs and other bits to keep them rust free and then replaced whatever could be stainless with stainless bolts (really just the swivel pin bolts and bump stop. Fitted new ball joints from Gwyn Lewis also.

Power steering pump replaced also, hopefully that will cure the leak...

A bad person clearly didn't have a 52mm socket...

Just completed a bit of an engine bay overhaul, I say a bit, I could carry on for ages Rolling with laughter

What I have done though is installed a 4inch intake system to the airbox from the wing outlet. Stainless steel wing outlet whihc is really nice and the overall system should help with airflow a lot.

Also changed some of the pipes for silicon ones and put a bit of blue in there. Air box got paint also, the rust was very annoying. Stainless jubilee clips wherever possible.

Constantly changing things though, not sure I like the way the 4inch air pipe fits so will see if I can change that to make it better.

Also fitted up a galv slam panel as the old one was constantly rusting.

VNT to be fitted very soon Very Happy

Looks a good install there greeny, looks a bit neater than mine.

I’ve never been a massive fan of how the 4” routes over the top but it definitely helps with the VGT

Cheers Baron!

Agreed Jimbo! Isn't meant to be there is it really, a task making it fit. There is a plastic air intake which I have seen, might look a bit better than the silicon one where it bunches up. Either way it will help a lot with the airflow. Instagram - @Land_Rover_Defender

Also painted the exhaust manifold and turbo for completeness.

Happy with the manifold.

I used a single hose all the way to the intake and 3D printed an opening for the wing

Yeah that is what I am thinking Jimbo that looks good, I was trying to be clever and put the 90 degree bend in around the wing support. Instagram - @Land_Rover_Defender

The only other thing I considered was to redesign the wing support so that the intake can go between the brake servo and he wing support as that would be a much neater and also shorter hose run

I have power!

CR turbos VNT fitted last week and mapped by Jose. Nothing crazy with the map, I didn't want to push things too much. But it is making some good power now with virtually 0 smoke which is great, no limiters either.

New stainless steel intake from the box to turbo also.

Here are some photos:

Stainless intake is from Ebay, a guy called Will McGregor Engineering on Instagram also. Can't fault it and looks good once polished up. Instagram - @Land_Rover_Defender
