Before we go back to normal service, the Alfa is a GT Juinor 1600, built in 1972. Its an historic rally car of old, with blueprinted engine (130bhp / 900kg), limited slip diff and lots of other mods. Lumpy idle, goes like stink above 3500rpm. Its a bit of a hoot. Im starting a rolling resto on it, mainly to improve and modernise without losing the charm.
Some pics of the engine bay next! Were very nearly up to date now. Bling!! You have no idea how hard it was to source some of bracketry and correct hoses. Click image to enlarge Not sure this will be the final air intake position and filter but its ok for now. Was going to run a snork but cant be arsed. Click image to enlarge The fairly finished article. Some wiring to do on oil temp/press etc but the main harness is done and in. Click image to enlarge And lets finish off with the new face! Ive had this grill for 3 years lol. Click image to enlarge |

The air intake hose / washer bottle is a bit of an interference fit isn't it? JB

It is your right. I think I either need a smaller diameter intake elbow or a different washer bottle solution like Greeni has. Gonna see how I can get on.

Just a little update, a video taken a few months ago. This was a huge huge milestone for the build and took some serious focus and effort. Were pretty much up to date now, so ill be taking some new photos and covering the work left to complete.
The eagle eyed might see the problem i've got, and still have! (its not oil pressure!) |

I dont think it was me, but you woulnt believe the attention the little alfa gets. went to the alfa southern event last sunday which was great. speaking to some owners to ensure some of the strange bits are normal lol.
The problem is that its running very very rich, so much it eventually stalls after a minute or so. The problem can be seen on the computer as the coolant temp gauge is -40, which as a ratio richens the mixture. Ive tracked it down to a broken wire or something. The only problem is that all my sensor earths are black as they come back to the ECU! doh. I need to run a new wire i think. |
