I was wondering about the wheel bolt pattern ~ I thought I'd seen or even read some discussion about it having 6 studs? Confused

"it’s expected to be priced from £40,000 when it hits the market late next year, initially as a five-door station wagon then “soon afterwards” as a four-door pick-up truck. A short-wheelbase car may come after, alongside other versions."

"Production will take several years to ramp up for markets around the world, but insiders say it will be profitable at an annual output of about 25,000."

Sounds all very sustainable in a way JLR could only dream about. Although, I think I've read that copy before the French factory deal, so no idea what that is capable of producing with the 1,600 employees it appears will be part of the deal.

Before any actual photos or video were released, there were computer generated images of the chassis and axles, showing 6 stud hubs. Since then all the pictures of vehicles have had 5 studs.

"The Grenadier will be parked up next to the collection of historic off-roaders that make up Ineos' own private fleet, including an original Mercedes G-Wagen, a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, a Willys Jeep and the earliest known production example of the original Land Series I."

Nice to see JUE477, the first production Land Rover finally out and about after a sympathetic restoration. Thumbs Up

They still haven’t fixed the wonky wipers on this very special car then. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Well, if you read it before the French deal, then they'll have to ramp up the annual sales numbers before profitability is achieved. Secondary National Insurance contributions by an employer in the UK are roughly 12%, whereas in France they're almost 50%. i.e. For every 1000€ an employee is paid, it costs a French company 1500€ versus £1200 in the UK. What's more, that's on like-for-like salaries. Given French skilled workers also earn considerably more per hour/day than a UK worker, there will be a noticeable uplift in their salary overheads compared with the UK. Perhaps 50% more? Interesting.

I read another report that put the Labour force at 1,300 rather than 1,500; either way it's a long way from the 300 moving to 500 for the Welsh plant. Although, there's the jobs from Portugal to go into the mix also.

There was also talk of continuing Smart production there for a couple of years, so maybe some "contract" work to keep that volume of staff gainfully employed?

I've recently just had the chance of meeting with a neighbours boyfriend who designs where the switches etc go inside cars...

Guess what he's working on...yep The Grenadier

So we chatted, he hasn't seen it but he has all the cad files, and dashboard 'look'

He said normally they have to do several version in the range, this is odd, he said as he has two options RHD and LHD. The range will have the same.

He showed me a very rough render on his phone, being honest it could have been the old defender... Binical in front of driver sort of ipad sized (no dials or any detail just block pictures) then to the middle almost like a double din upgrade in some TDci's there is the 'informatics' screen, in a 16:0 wide format.

Then under this was the switch gear buttons like the tdci, on the other side was a grab handle.... like the defender and g wagon. He did say the dash will be plane with 'lines" almost retro and the interior will be able to hosed out.

All are automatic but he was not sure if it will have flappy paddles behind the steering wheel.

Looks like I will give him a few more weeks then have to have some drinks to find out more Thumbs Up

That sounds promising. Minimal, correct?

I'd hope that INEOS will keep the dash and cockpit as analouge as possible. Then just have robust mounting for phones or tablets - the owners personal device. That's all the infotainment you need. And it will be somewhat future proof when phones and tablets update. And of course you can choose to not use you device if you wish.

It’s not meant to be about the looks, but there’s something about it just doesn’t look right. Looks like is needs a 2” lift and some bigger tyres maybe. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
