The two shoots I beat on are both going ahead.
Not sure how social-distancing will be achieved in the beaters' wagon though. Just hope I don't have to walk everywhere between drives, as these days my legs need a break occasionally! The one shoot that was previously more commercial, had already decided to reduce to friends and family only, before Covid struck, so it won't be a problem for them. Can dogs carry Covid..... |

Had a Translock Gun drawer previously in a Discovery 4. I found it one of the best quality drawers around so I ordered one for the Defender. Again not disappointed in the quality although the wallet has taken a beating!

That looks smart. Any chance of a pic of the internals?
Nice one, thanks. |

Very nice! I always worry about leaving my gun in the truck at the pub after a day. Don’t think I can afford this solution though

Doc P, thats exactly the reason why I felt the need to get one as the Defenders are not that hard to break into and it always worried me with guns and ammunition sitting there.

I had one made to measure with approved gun locks from dog box in North Devon. Cheers

Just got back home after a day out on Chobham Ridges shooting steel targets from 300 to 1000 yards. A challenging day with rain & some very tricky winds but well worth it. The target I am engaging in the photo is at 560 yards, it is 15" wide by 25" high

How did you go,....any pics of the target after your shoot? I haven't done much shooting, but what I did, was with an almost unused Army surplus .303, absolutely beautiful to shoot with. Pickles. |

The only time you get to see the targets is through the scope when shooting or through a spotting scope if you're watching others shoot, there are no score values, it's either a hit - with a satisfying visual puff of 'smoke' as the bullet impacts followed by the sound of the impact, or a miss. Wind is the biggest challenge, there are no wind flags to look at, the terrain is undulating with deep unseen gulleys or draws that channel & accelerate wind completely unseen so you have to watch the trees, bushes, bracken & heather for movement to judge hold off - that's when having a mil dot reticle comes in handy as you can hold off by specific amounts & repeat consistently.

My local village Surgery has just charged me £48 for ticking a few boxes and signing the Medical Form for my Firearms and Shotgun Certificate renewal.
Essex Police charge £65 for the complete double renewal. £48 for a few ticks and a signature seems a rip-off to me. How much have you other shooters been charged by your Doctor? |
