Should be good for another 100k now

No, there wasn't anything wrong with the one that was fitted, it was just done as preventive maintenance.

Rufurbished the side sills as above posts.

All finished, very happy with the result. Thumbs Up Used the sealing foam tape to fill the gap between the sill and the bodywork, there was traces of foam on there so it must have had it on from the factory, but fell off at some point.

Added the stainless floor/sill protectors which really neatens up the edge.

I've fitted a set of Gore rear door hinges to my van (at last) today. They let me know there was some stock last weekend, so I ordered them immediately. Sadly, they're sold out again now.

I'm very impressed with them, but the real surprise was finding out that it was only my original top hinge holding the door on! The middle and bottom ones both had sheared pins and only about 3mm or so of 'stub' left engaging in the female half. I'm sure it would have fallen off one day soon.

They were easy enough to fit, and I've had a Nakatanenga v2 rear door strut from 4x4 Overlander ready to go on for ages, so I've done that too. As my spare wheel isn't on the door, it doesn't half take a shove to close it, but having had the wind slam it shut unexpectedly a few times, I can cope with that.

I was bothered that the black finish of the hinges on a white van would look odd, but it actually looks fine.

Today was the fit of the BBUS relocation cable, only to find I do not have the aforementioned BBUS Laughing

Amended to relocation of the horn to a more secure place.

Centre silencer removed and bypass fitted, screen wash bottle cleaned of oily residue and silicone intercooler pipes fitted. EGR sensor cleaned.

Long day...... Rgds.

Fitted my cargobear version 1.0 roof rack, little annoyed as the version 2.0 has just come out which I prefer the look of but such is life. Impressed with the kit and overall feels very solid and fits my needs perfectly except for one thing.
I was hoping the modular system meant I could take the kit apart without a hoist on my own but that’s certainly not the case as the bolts are not accessible once on and it weighs a around 70+ kg fully assembled.

The chequer plate is good and is installed with flush counter sunk bolts, however the rear anti slip plates have round headed bolts that are supposed to be fitted with a washer and split washer. I fitted them with neither as it raised the bolt head 4-5mm above the rest of the plates and would have damaged any board lengths strapped to the roof. I will likely be buying 3 additional chequered plates for the aforementioned reason.

The fit is incredibly snug, as you can see, which I love.

I have no soundproofing and there is noticeable wind noise though not enough to bother me, but theres no whistle or any whine which is good.

I purchased a variety of fixings for the system which I love for there quick release nature and cargo slots. I have the advantage of coming from an aviation background so the system makes complete sense to me and not fiddly at all. I will be installing full length flush cargo rails in the rear floor and walls to facilitate a quick change system and this also means my straps and fixing eyes can be used for both the roof and cargo area.

Also must say a massive thanks to Brendan and Barbara at 4x4overlander for the help and advice

Hi, I have the same cargo bear system and was advised to put the perforated panels at the front where the roof slopes down, the holes will let the air pressure through and therefore quieter... well that’s the theory anyway... great looking rig mate !

Thank you!
That’s interesting, I put them at the back to make getting on and off the ladder safer in wet/ice but the chequered plate is my preferred panel which I’ll probably swap for.

Out of interest have you fitted the Wind deflector and/or a light bar ? I am looking for a 50-52” bar to fill the gap anyway
