Well it gets my vote.

Just shows where Defender could have gone and proves you can retain classic lines and flexibility in design whilst meeting modern crash test requirements. (Although I never bought into that reasoning as Merc, Jeep, Suzuki have all managed to do it).

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the JLR and Tata board rooms when Grenadier is being discussed.

I hope it doesn't get bogged down in another round of legal battles.

Do you think there is at least one ounce of doubt now creeping into Gerry's head that he got it so wrong?

Good luck Ineos and I really hope it does well for you.
The next big question will be price.

Looks brilliant. Very similar to the styling mock up I saw last year, but they have clearly spent a lot of time refining the detail. It looks a lot less awkward and Santana-sequel now. Not sure about the grille but I like everything else.

Note the Safari windows. They are actually recesses with grab handles, not windows, to aid climbing to the rook.

Small cubby storage box in the rear wing.

The small black plastic squares on the doors and the black rail round the waste are for attaching accessories.

I really like the concept of the new vehicle and understand it, and am looking forward to seeing more of the vehicle, and if the costs are as discussed, then I can see utility companies seriously considering it - depending on manufacturing volume.

My take on the design and build is that the new defender (Mk 2 Defender?) has a very different ethos and market - its sports utility and designed for the young fit and active market (as the launch made very plain)with the latests tech as built into the Land/Range rover range, moving away from it core market of utility use. Its less time consuming to build and has a higher return for the company.

The Grenadier is a full on utility vehicle that aims to reach the farming building and utility market vacated by the original defender, with minimal tech and simplistic design. It will have a longer build time in man-hours but will be the sole vehicle for the company to manage, with various versions. (pick up, tilt back options etc)

I would be very interested on how it goes with the various regulations for airbags, pedestrian safety and crash tests as I think that may be an influence on the end result,

That’s the marketing spiel ~ the reality is every single new owner I've seen taking delivery on a main dealer's social media has been @50 plus male. How many young people (of the age shown in JLR marketing) are likely to be able to afford a new Defender, especially if they also have the requisite children?

I think the young and active market are more likely to have an old hardtop 110, converted to rough camping with some scrap plywood and sleeping bags that zip together.

Are you suggesting that what has been revealed has not gone through any of the various regulations already and will need to be modified to obtain approval?

Brilliant ~ don't have that available to me, but will try a little later when I'm on a desktop to grab a few of the detail shots. Keen to see some of the things meantion by Bluest that I missed first time around.

Now I can actually look at that bonnet, I've realised what it reminds me of:

I really hope we now get a few apologies from all those saying that the Defender shape had to go for legislative, ergonomic, or emissions reasons. It just needed a multi-billionaire to show what Censored that was.
