Yes, good point, I had forgotten that! To every rule there is an exception.

Well thanks to the input from this excellent forum, I fitted my Naka aerial on Saturday with no real drama, other than the old LR aerial had bonded itself to the holder tube bracket thingy at the base.

As there is no access to the screw head that holds it onto the inner wing I was left scratching my head whilst I did some other jobs (mostly rust converting and painting the front dumb irons) until it occurred to me that I might be able to lever the screw and it's accompanying captive plastic nut out in one, given LR tolerances.

Which is what I was able to do, using a lovely long flat blade screwdriver.

Thought I'd share in case it helps anyone else.

And the DAB reception does seem a lot better, no drop-outs on my drive to work. Thumbs Up

Hi - Think I have an old Entreq DAB aerial from Brendan in the garage which I never got around to fitting ... any reason why I shouldn't use this instead of buying a new Nakatanega ?

Just purchased this antenna from Brendan.
Questions:
1. Is this black and red to go somewhere?
2. Does the whole dash panel have to come off to route the cable?
Cheers for helping.

Yes, centre panel out, 2 screws, unplug all the switches on the right and the clock, donโ€™t worry, the plugs are unique to the switch they serve so can only plug it back together correctly.

As for the wires, see posts on previous page.

Good luck!

Black / red is the boosters power.
If you have no extra Amps fitted you can connect red to the HUโ€™s rear Blue / white tracer remote and the ground to a suitable ground point. This way itโ€™s only powered when required when the HU is powered up and off otherwise. Thumbs Up $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I fitted my aerial this morning. Hardest thing was removing the speedo cable to get behind the dash.

I pick up DAB with a signal strength of between 38-40 so just need to do some driving to see how it holds up.

Entreq one will be at least as good if not better. Only based on their other products, no real knowledge of either aeriel

When I pulled my aerial though I used green pvc coated wire, make a loop at the end so no sharp end is protruding. Tape up. Then tape that to the aerial tip, so the aerial end is protected by the tape and facing forward though the grommet. I use 3M blue tape Witt a tear off tab on the end so itโ€™s easy just to rip it off once though.
Take off the horizontal facia just below the dash dials with a T30 bit I think it is, to the left there will be a hole pretty much in line with that grommet.
Use a head torch and you will be able to see camping going though.
You can pull though here, leaving centre dash in place. Then once that stage is done another day if you are short of time you can then take the centre dash off and into the back.
The T30 torch screws are 2NM when re-tightened. No other dash part needs to come off but this allows better access providing you donโ€™t have giant hands. At worst you can at least see.
Long nosed pliers can help to carefully take hold of it to bring the end though, even more so if you have help from the engine bay side.
I managed it on my own. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Ladies and gents,

I'm 99% of the way there with my install. I just need a steer on the easiest place to pick up live and connect to earth for the amplifier.
I've read the previous posts. But unsure where exactly you mean the the way to route it.

"Correct, there is a stud on the bonnet opening mech handle assemble that would suffice as a ring terminal for a ground. "

A photo would be really handy if possible. I'm on a blaupunkt with no lives coming out hence the need to link into both.

Can anyone help? Defender 90 XS TD5 (03 Reg)

Just behind the handle that you use to open the bonnet in the footwell there is a suitable metal stud and nut you can fit a grounding point eye onto providing it isnโ€™t a large cable. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
