Hmm, was the polarity correct and all fuses in-tact?
I wonder if the AM/FM jack & DAB connectors should both be connected at the same time? I'm assuming probably so. Although I haven't tried DAB myself yet, others have and haven't had any issues. Is the DAB box on the Pinoneer connected up properly and all the connections secure? What power source did you use for the Nak unit? Hands up as I am not an electronics/radio expert So 1) Nakatanenga aerial and splitter box 2) Unknown adaptor 3) Pioneer dab box to radio Now why is the DAB box separate from the Pioneer radio? Is that Pioneer DAB box an amplifier? If so then it is amplifiering an already amplifiered signal which may cause issues. Brendan |

Hi Brendan
Not sure why pioneer is a separate unit? Iโm going to try with out power to the ariel booster tomorrow Connector is a simple one canโt see that is an issue as no wire just a connector Have check fuses and power to booster box unsure if dab box is powered? Will update tomorrow once Iโve done some research Thanks guys 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid) 2002 90 TD5 Hardtop (Sully) Sold 1998 300TDi D1 (Billy) Sold |

Brendan - The DAB box is separate on the units the other member has mentioned, it's how they are designed.
However, they could well be powered as you suggest. If that is the case, it is indeed worth trying un-powered OR contact Pinoneer to check. I'd have thought thought then you would lose AM/FM boosted, but perhaps that's not an issue. Does the external Pioneer unit take the AM/FM jack and DAB connection or just the DAB? There may well be details in the Pinoneer manual if it's an amplified DAB unit or not. No Guts, No Glory.

Dab box takes both inputs and goes through multi plug cable from headunit
Iโve looked in manual but couldnโt see any mention of the box powered or not? Going to try tomorrow 2008 110 2.4 XS Utility (Hagrid) 2002 90 TD5 Hardtop (Sully) Sold 1998 300TDi D1 (Billy) Sold |

I'm assuming it's a Z7100DAB the unit, but if not similar should apply.
Here is the manual(s). https://www.pioneer-car.eu/eur/products/avh-z7100dab/support The following screenshots show further info, without looking into great detail myself it does mention and error on it dependant on the way in which it is connected. It also seems to have a setting of having the amplified booster on or off, or at least as I read it. If you have the Nak booster powered up, the HU booster should be off as it's not needed. Hopefully it should help you solve the issue you have even if it isn't a Z7100DAB as they are very likely to be very similar from the same manufacturer. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge It seems like you may have two options to chose from, I'd use the Nak booster if it was my choice but if the HU won't allow that then you may have to use its own. I would presume that the HU probably does have it own booster in the DAB unit as it has max mA load specs in the manual. It would be interesting to know the current draw of the Nak unit but without DAB I can't check for it in operation, it should be under 300mA though easily I'd have thought. Upper SW.
And youโre welcome and good luck tomorrow. It should work one way or another, either the Nak booster or the HU. Iโd try the Nak booster first and see if you can turn off the HU booster in settings and check that connection procedure. If you canโt get that to work try the HU booster only. ๐๐ป No Guts, No Glory.

OK I am out of my knowledge zone.
Why would the Pioneer DAB unit be external to the main Pioneer radio unit? Now just thought of another question. If the Nakatanenga splitter/amplifier box is not powered up will there be a signal output from the aerial on the radio side f the splitter box? Brendan |

There are some Pioneer HUs which are notorious for this, they have an internal fusible link which provides the power to an active aerial if you have one, which is prone to failing and which can only (apparently) be replaced by a dealer. My unit has done this twice, even though I used a passive aerial. The first time was under warranty, the second time I didn't bother to get it fixed because DAB reception was poor anyway. It's a stupid design and annoyed me so much I am unlikely ever to buy another Pioneer system. That means for me that Pioneer and Kenwood are both on the blacklist for bad engineering design! |

Interesting BW, I have just done a quick search for Pioneer dab radio antenna fault and there does seem to be a history of antenna fault code appearing. Since this antenna fault code is associated with the dab aerial circuit the consensus of opinions seem to be check the connection first then it is a fault inside the radio and the radio is exchanged.
So is the Nakatanenga dab aerial at fault or the radio set itself? Brendan |
