INSURANCE ROBBERY
I think i'm basically just an ungrateful, miserable old git. My insurance co - NFU - has generously offered a 2yr bonus discount for my (proposed) loyalty in signing up again - all £58.61p. I'm just finding it terribly difficult to celebrate in view of the fact that the policy has actually gone up just a little over 99%. Yep, you heard it right £419 to over £835. Is your company as generous? Robbing b+*+**ds

yes,

listen to this. 2 cars ones a 90 the other a vw, 9 years NCB....protected....so i thought. had a bump in the vw, 3rd party cut straight across me on a major round about taking the front offf th car.

apparently i had only protected m 90s insurance and not the vw! so my premium is now £1000. so a 300% increase and lost 7 years ncb. fuming, the reps getting it tomorrow.

its par for the course matey, i too have just had my renewal from NFU, get this...
my puma and the wifes tdv8 RR are on the same policy

last year £1100 for both cars, not too bad considering they are insuring £80,000 worth of cars

this year £3900!!! W.T.F ? Shocked

So i phoned every insurance company in the UK (well it felt like it)

outcome...... cheapest i could find was £4700 from a so called LR specialist insurer so i renewed with NFU.

All the companies i spoke to said insurance has gone up dramatically to cover the cost of all the severe weather
claims they had last year.

it still hurts 2 weeks after renewing, how much is the fine nowadays for having no insurance ?
in my local paper it seems to be between £80 -£160.......hmm Twisted Evil

now im just being silly cos i got stiffed!

It's not just the NFU, lots of insurance companies are hiking their prices up.

We had one of the area managers for the NFU in work the other week (our fleet is with them, as is my private insurance car & house)

He was explaining that it's the general increase in no-win-no-fee companies (which are being outlawed) and dodgy types who cause accidents just to make a claim.

The insurance companies have to cover their arses!

As some may have read I came from owning a Porsche 911 Turbo. had and agreed value of £27.5k. 0-60 is about 4 sec, and I saw over 190mph many a time - so when I went to renew yesterday ( 07 Defender XS with a few era bits etc, valued at £18.5k ) was told I had to pay an EXTRA £60.00 pa - am bloody furious Big Cry

After many years with NFU I've just left them after they wanted to up my premium by a huge amount to cover the same vehicle with the same cover under the same circumstances at renewal time last month. I have absolutely no complaints about the service I received from them over the years but my loyalty does not extend that far! When I queried the hike I received the following:

Quote:
The premium increases this year are due to a number of changes the NFU Mutual have made this year which are : -

* The Government have increased the Insurance premium Tax to 6%.
* The Mutal bonus on the policy was doubled for last year as it was NFU Mutual's centenary year (your bonus was 18% in 2010 and is 10% this year).
* The Underwritters have revised all rating factors used on our policies including postcodes and vehicle types as well as taking in to account large personal injury claims that are now common, this has lead to increases in the majority of our policies.

 Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.

I've just dropped NFU as the quote was 50% up on last years - thought it was going to be typical across the board, but after trying a few others found that cheaper quotes are out there - in fact ended up with the AA for less than I was paying last year!
Seem like the NFU are no longer interested in car insurance (or at least not LR insurance)!

A couple of years ago I had a slight bump in slow moving traffic, I barely touched the car in front although it did crack my number plate slightly. I saw no damage on the car in front and she probably wouldn't have known if I'd not got out.

She put a claim in of £5000 for whiplash.....

I queried it with my insurer and they said there was nothing they could do as she had a dcotor's note!! Mad

Thats the problem though - the more the insurance companies screw us, the more we are more likely to claim and the more we would go for.

Went out of the equation when car repairs began to cost a fortune, new bumpers at four number figures etc etc, folk just can't afford it. 2011 110 USW

Most of the expence isnt actual cost - its insurance company inflated cost though.

Hence you go to them and say its not through insurance and the price can half Mike
