I think i'm basically just an ungrateful, miserable old git. My insurance co - NFU - has generously offered a 2yr bonus discount for my (proposed) loyalty in signing up again - all £58.61p. I'm just finding it terribly difficult to celebrate in view of the fact that the policy has actually gone up just a little over 99%. Yep, you heard it right £419 to over £835. Is your company as generous? Robbing b+*+**ds

It's not just the NFU, lots of insurance companies are hiking their prices up.
We had one of the area managers for the NFU in work the other week (our fleet is with them, as is my private insurance car & house) He was explaining that it's the general increase in no-win-no-fee companies (which are being outlawed) and dodgy types who cause accidents just to make a claim. The insurance companies have to cover their arses! |

As some may have read I came from owning a Porsche 911 Turbo. had and agreed value of £27.5k. 0-60 is about 4 sec, and I saw over 190mph many a time - so when I went to renew yesterday ( 07 Defender XS with a few era bits etc, valued at £18.5k ) was told I had to pay an EXTRA £60.00 pa - am bloody furious

After many years with NFU I've just left them after they wanted to up my premium by a huge amount to cover the same vehicle with the same cover under the same circumstances at renewal time last month. I have absolutely no complaints about the service I received from them over the years but my loyalty does not extend that far! When I queried the hike I received the following:
Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. Current Defender: A non tarts hand-bagged Puma 110 XS USW. [Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc] http://forums.lr4x4.com I used to be Miserable ...but now I'm ecstatic. |

I've just dropped NFU as the quote was 50% up on last years - thought it was going to be typical across the board, but after trying a few others found that cheaper quotes are out there - in fact ended up with the AA for less than I was paying last year!
Seem like the NFU are no longer interested in car insurance (or at least not LR insurance)! |

A couple of years ago I had a slight bump in slow moving traffic, I barely touched the car in front although it did crack my number plate slightly. I saw no damage on the car in front and she probably wouldn't have known if I'd not got out. She put a claim in of £5000 for whiplash..... I queried it with my insurer and they said there was nothing they could do as she had a dcotor's note!! |

Thats the problem though - the more the insurance companies screw us, the more we are more likely to claim and the more we would go for. What happened to the days of Sorry mate, ill pay to get that fixed for you Mike |

Went out of the equation when car repairs began to cost a fortune, new bumpers at four number figures etc etc, folk just can't afford it. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Most of the expence isnt actual cost - its insurance company inflated cost though. Hence you go to them and say its not through insurance and the price can half Mike |
