Had mine for a few weeks now and the improvement is vast. Not just the lightness of the pedal itself, but because of it, gear changes are much smoother and slicker. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Have to agree Co1 reference the gear change, never thought a spring could make that much difference

I fitted one of these recently. After faffing about with compressing in a vice, cable ties, string, lengths of wood etc I resorted to a pair of pliars and brute force.
Job done in ten minutes and one hell of an improvement > 110 XS Double Cab |

I’m now a believer.
Couldn’t see it making that much difference but I was wrong. Easily the best few quid spent so far. That’s on a 2.2 puma. |

Just fitted one to my 2.2, first impressions i didnt think there was much difference, took it for a short drive up the lane, it is slightly lighter, a longer drive will tell this.
25 mins to fit once i found the right tools to use, a very long handled pair of pliers, give much more room to put pressure on the spring and it went straight in one side, then use the mole grips to hold the side already in securely in place, whilst pushing the other side in. I fitted this new spring last night. I'd recommend using the vice method to tension (almost fully) the new spring, then use metal cable ties as per the link below. Then the spring can be positioned fairly easily before cutting the metal ties.

Gidday,
Please allow me to describe a fitting method that worked for me. Wear safety glasses. Using the cable tie method, fitted exactly as shown in earlier photos but a little closer to coils to clear bushes. Clutch pedal in up position install spring into stationary pedal box tab bushes in a central position. Depress clutch pedal and swing spring into start of pedal bush position. While pedal is depressed, install a round bar (short extension bar) through both spring coils, then slowly allow pedal to travel out. Pedal will be held slightly down by bar and spring wedged into start of pedal bush. Cut each cable tie, spring should be pulled into pedal bush. Depress clutch pedal and withdraw bar, remove cable ties. Squeeze pedal box tabs in. I didn't remove top tab. Good luck. |
