Kuwait 2000 Defender 130 Td5 HCPU Nato Green No Canopy
I have been lookin around, and i may just go with a 3.2 TDCI swap. Less adapter plates, but slightly higher investment cost. Plus i could swap in the newer MT82 gearbox, but it will need to be modified to handle the new power output.

I would be getting about 300bhp vs 220bhp from my td5

I thought you only got about 240BHP from the 3.2? James

Adaptor plate is also available so you can use std R380 without having to mod it to fit BMW engine, Not cheap though.

140bhp seems very low. Do you mean 240? Darren

Are you using the standard BMW ECU or a custom one? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Custom one. I am having the work done by Marcus Of MW Engineering 4x4.

He has done a few now, has custom clutches sorted out to take the power, exhaust templates and the ECU and cooling sorted. 80" 1948

I drive a 435d. The thought of my Defender going almost as quick sounds somewhat frightening/fun in equal measures!

You say as quick as, but it still has a kerb weight north of 2 ton, the aerodynamics of a house and the same transmission losses as before Laughing

The L322 Range Rover used the same engine in 175hp form. Although a tad more aerodynamic it was infact a heavier car than the 130, so for me where top speed is irrelevant, but mid range power is desirable then I think it will be a stunning power plant.
