Also forgot to mention the latest mpg figures. The most recent tank was 32mpg - not too bad considering that included the Wrynose and Hardknott pass and driving through the lake district 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Back home now, what a fantastic trip. I'd recommend it to anyone, stunning scenery and roads.
The stats: 2288 miles 29.46 MPG average 42 MPH average speed 353.04 L of fuel If you get a week (preferably more) going spare, do the NC500! 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Thank you, nothing specific really.
Gentle driving and good diesel. I also use either 2 stroke oil or miller's diesel ecomax. Mine has road biased tyres which will help slightly. 1.2 transfer box and discovery V8 5th gear in the gearbox. Engine wise it has a VGT, full size intercooler and 110mm air box feed. Remap by IRB developments. Very minimal smoke (a very slight haze under full load) Best MPG on the trip was 32 MPG but generally I get about 30 with normal driving. Camera is mainly just my phone, Huawei P20 Pro. The odd telephoto shot with a Nikon D3400. NC500 and MacNab in one holiday! That'll be one to remember! 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

ah I read about the 2 stroke thing on pug 306.net years ago for the common rail diesel engine. I never tried it though in case I the injectors. That's good mpg, mind grafty. my 300 wasn't anywhere near as good as that, not matter how good I drove it. started to get better after I sorted the fuel problems and I suspect the timing was out too. Well I've been using 2 stroke oil for the last 70,000 miles without any injector problems, you only put a small amount in (300ml on a 60L tank)
Taller gearing makes quite a lot of difference as it's not revving as high at cruising speed. 60MPH is just a shade under 2,000 RPM on mine. Timing can make a big difference to fuel economy of its out. If the timing is retarded it won't burn all the fuel you inject and so is less efficient 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

With timing on a 300/200tdi I can see that the 'boost ring' from Fourby would be a good modification as it advances the timing at high revs.
32mpg is mighty good though and that V8 5th gear is a brilliant idea. I this possible on a LT77 I wonder. |

I'm not sure if that can be done to the LT77. It might be worth getting in touch with Ashcroft transmissions 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
