No unfortunately not - actually it was under warranty until the 22 of may - but the car has been standing still for 2 years and not been serviced so .....last registered service was july 09 at 39.000 km it has now covered 47.800 km. It got a full service when I bought it at 45.000 km - at the time it seemed I made a good deal
![]() If it is worst case scenario I guess I would be better off buying another engine, - how much for one in GB? Any engine alternatives? - 3.2 V6... CRJ 88 Ser. 3 1980 -sold Puma 130 - 08- sold 90 200tdi 1991 - sold 88 Ser. 3 1977 200 TDI 110 CC 2003 |

I would try to push the envelope with the dealer.
Anycase, a remanufactured head assy with valves is around 400 quid. The housing for rocker valves around the same and valves&springs just a few quid. Keep us posted Puma 110" SW ............................................................. Earth first. Other planets later |

Before taking that route I would definitely double check with another dealer.
Even if the engine is from Ford, there are quite a few differences, one being the injectors. And the Puma is not the same as the Peugeot (PSA) 2.2l engine you find in the Freelander 2 either. Beside, you wrote the issue began a few days ago after you had it serviced, that might be an indication. If I am not mistaken, LR like many car manufacturer advises against any sort of additives, so I would double check with another LR dealer before even thinking about replacing the engine after its out of warranty... |

Actually the trouble started 3 days after the Belladd 1D+ treatment - recommended by Ford...would it not be possible to take out the injectors and test them - before doing anything else - to rule that out..

They have found out that the injector on cyl. 3 is "dripping" or something - all four injectors are sent to be tested - and replaced if needed ( 180 gbp ex. vat a piece) - with a little luck I will get it back tomorrow - got a Peugeot Partner as a loan car....
One thing they mentioned, was that they took of the valve cover where they noticed 2 places on the camshaft where it was a little bit blue - but they ruled out that the noise could come from there. They said many cars could have some discoloration, but it looked like lack of lubrication once. regards CRJ 88 Ser. 3 1980 -sold Puma 130 - 08- sold 90 200tdi 1991 - sold 88 Ser. 3 1977 200 TDI 110 CC 2003 |

Just got results from the test of the injectors - one was faulty ( caused the knocking) two was not giving enough fuel and one was perfect. I was recommended to change the three of them because they could not say if they would become worse. As my car has only been driven 4.000 km the past two years in a forest in Poland, I was told that it was a mixture of poor diesel and short runs at low revs that must have caused it. The problem appeared about 5 days after I started driving the car about 300 km every day - with trailer. They did not have any injectors before wednesday - so I enjoy the Peugeot Partner
![]() untill then.... What do you pay for injectors in the UK? I was told about a 180 Gbp ex vat - but it ended on 280 gbp ex vat a piece. regards CRJ 88 Ser. 3 1980 -sold Puma 130 - 08- sold 90 200tdi 1991 - sold 88 Ser. 3 1977 200 TDI 110 CC 2003 |

how much 2 stroke do you add - and what about the EGR? will the 2 stroke do any harm there ?

I've used 250ml of Castrol Actevo and had great results, that way you get four tanks out of a litre bottle!
![]() I've had no engine issues since using it, but I do have the BAS EGR shut map... Engine sounds much much smoother and quieter and I'd like to say a little more powerful but that might just be because it sounds happier!? Also a friend of mine who often drives in convoy with me even said there seems to be less visible smoke from the exhaust since I have been adding the oil! Thanks a lot for all the replies - and the spot on remote diagnostisc - faulty injector
![]() I am looking forward to drive it again - especially to see if there is any difference - apart from the noise - when driving, the recall about engine management is done as well. Regards CRJ 88 Ser. 3 1980 -sold Puma 130 - 08- sold 90 200tdi 1991 - sold 88 Ser. 3 1977 200 TDI 110 CC 2003 |

![]() I suggest you do a good clean up of all your fuel lines including the tank before you install the new bits. Then use the 200cc/tank of 2-stroke FB spec (synth 2 stroke is quite expensive), and drain water from the fuel filter every month or so. ![]() ............................................................. They did test the injectors in a very advanced machine - it took one hour a piece, running through some program, I was told that the machine needed to test such advanced injectors cost more than 100.000 GBP......guess I am going to pay part of that....
Fuel filter and fuel lines are changed/cleaned. And I have read a lot about 2 stroke, and will sure add it from now on. Regards CRJ 88 Ser. 3 1980 -sold Puma 130 - 08- sold 90 200tdi 1991 - sold 88 Ser. 3 1977 200 TDI 110 CC 2003 |
