I expect the genuine ones are just made by CAI/Smiths. They can probably supply them direct.

The td5 rev counters are ECU controlled not altenator controlled like the older ones. Roel

Hi Dobbo,
Geobloke on this forum has connected a vdo rev counter, see please http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic53710.html You can also try again with a group buy via Dan van Duckworths, if the price is right, I'll join. In March of this year, LandymanStefan made another attempt. Unfortunately, there was insufficient interest at the time. Cheers GerardTd5 |

CAI were part of VDO for a while. The TD5 ones were probably still made in CAI's factory. |

I think most UK vehicle instrumentation production ended up with CAI. Smiths, VDO, Jaeger, Lucas etc. They can make stuff with a variety of brands on it.
It's a bit like Burlen Fuel Systems ended up with SU, Amal and Zenith carbs. The Market contracted, so you had lots of mergers to cut costs. |
