Does anyone know the answer to this question? I am looking to change the rear half shafts on my 110 but can only find single piece shafts listed for 90's? Thanks |

Just in case anyone else is interested. Following a bit more digging, the part numbers for the later single piece shafts are LR072976 and LR072977.
These supersede the separate shafts part numbers TOB500020 and TOB500030. It appears these can only be purchased as genuine parts approx £375 each or a Britpart where a pair will set you back for £140 including a 2 year guarantee. I have ordered a Britpart set so I'll update once I have fitted and run them for a while. |

Do Britpart actually do them?
I ordered some Bearmach ones, from I think Trek Overland. But the shafts that turned up where just the normal 2 piece Puma ones. I sent them back because they're were not what I was after. Most of the suppliers just seem to use the latest part number on the older 2 piece shafts. A quick google on the part number brings up loads of after market suppliers with them as low as £45, but I expect they would have the same issue that I had. |

Won't get chance till next weekend to fit. |

They're available very cheaply from Steve Parker, here:

I just found them on ebay;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LANDROVER-DEFEN...2762064382 The machining looks really terrible in the pictures. For most of the shaft it doesn't really matter, but the seal surfaces even look rough in the pics. Let us know how they go, you'll be the guinea pig by the looks of it. |

They're not new take off's the outside face of the drive flange forging is (cosmetically) completely different to the genuine ones. So they may just be re-branded Discover items. |

Now they look a lot better machined than the ones in the ebay listing. And they do indeed have an end more similar to the Defender ones than the Disco ones.
I expect the ebay listing uses pictures of pattern Discovery ones. |

Whilst browsing eBay on the back of this discussion, I've just come across a breaker selling a set of low mileage genuine one piece shafts. It wasn't an expense I planned to incur until next year but at less than a quarter of the price of brand new, they were too good a deal to pass up Darren

I replaced my rear halfshafts for those britpart one piece things a couple of weeks ago. Seemed really good quality and went in a treat. 1953 80"

I eventually got a pair of second hand 1 piece Disco shafts from eBay. £28 delivered to my door! Fitted these and very happy with them. A lot of people might baulk at fitting used items, but let’s face it, the rest of my car is used as it is - it was a USED car when I bought it. They done away with the clunks I had been puting up with for a while, and all for under £30 - it’s really a no brainer.

Well some used items are easy to assess for condition, and easy to replace if they fail. And I reckon these shafts come into that category. I mean a used gearbox is a different kettle of fish and a greater risk, but you should be safe with second hand shafts if they look in good nick, they probably are.
