Replacing original LR Radio
Have recently bought a defender 90 hardtop
The original Radio was still in place but not working
After stripping out the dash etc, and got to the back of the radio but could not find a way to release the connector at the back..is there a trick I'm missing?
Also, what adapter do i need to get new radio to fit the defender connectors?
Thanks

If it's anything like the Puma it'll have two side locking tabs, if you can get to the rear and push them in they should release.
Or if it's got a 4 hole key pattern on the front buy ISO DIN. keys, they are under a £5.
You can make your own, but often not strong enough and not even worth the hassle. No Guts, No Glory.

I would imagine it's the BMW connector which has a strange slide and lock type connector.

The outer piece slides to one side which unlocks and partially removes the plug Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

I remember having similar problems with mine nearly 10 years ago. I ended up removing the whole section around the radio and manually operating the release mechanism.
I'm sure it was obvious, but only once I'd ripped the whole thing apart.

Mud stuff sell the adaptor you need but it's basically an older BMW radio connector. I'm sure Halfords would have it Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon
