Does this have extra mounting bolts - ie 6 instead of the standard 4? I'm considering either this D44 bumper, or the First Four heavy duty bumper purely as a way of getting easily accessible, strong, recovery points (not for off roading, but to drag Defender and 2 -3 ton trailers out of wet fields). If a bumper is 'too heavy duty', would a slow speed bump transmit all forces to the chassis, as opposed to the standard bumper taking the hit and bending. I notice that most heavy duty bumpers are built of 5 mm steel, and the chassis is 2.5mm? |

It all depends on the speeds involved, what you hit and which bit takes the hit, but yes theoretically a HD bumper could increase the chances of chassis damage. On the other hand the standard bumpers are soft as anything, a light tap on the end of one pushes it up into the wing, so in this instance a HD bumper would save damage. |

I see your point about preventing damage to the wing, Zsd-puma, hadn’t thought of that.

I like that a lot, like mine. I'd be a bit concerned the plate is obscured though. No MOT issues? If it was me and to avoid any airflow restriction I'd consider rack mounting, even if spots are slightly moved to each side. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

I’d quite like the Twisted one with the strip type DRLs. But not for over £500!
Anyone got one and can tell me the spec of the lights please? Might ask a friend to cut the appropriate holes in my standard LR one. |

I have a FF heavy duty bumper that looks like a XS bumper with the end caps. It weighs the same weight as the bull bar!
So a lot of weight on the front, with the bull bar mounted on. People sharp think twice on pulling out at the last min I tell you! yes I have sat the bumper off a few arses too when they have decided to pull out at the last moment. It is unlikely that there'll be any airflow issues, certainly not in the UK. I have my front plate on the grille and have never had any problems, however the fact that the A-bar is in front of the plate definitely makes that illegal. Never mind MOT issues, the driver risks getting a pull and a fine for that. On the other hand, you'd have to encounter a Policeman or VOSA official who actually cares and can be bothered to do something, and, judging by the number of vehicles you see with missing, obscured, or illegal number plates, that seems unlikely. |

I like the Twisted one as the DRL's are further towards the ends which I prefer. I picked up a refurbished Twisted bumper from LRO Show for a fraction of the new costs. I'm fairly certain the DRL's are just the Ring Aurora http://www.ringautomotive.com/uk/products/...ng/BRL0397 James MY2012 110 2.2TDCi XS SW Orkney Grey - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic43410.html MY1990 110 200TDi SW beautifully faded Portofino Red - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post743641.html#743641 MY1984 90 V8 Slate Grey - https://www.defender2.net/forum/post744557.html#744557 Instagram @suffolk_rovers |
