I was wondering how you were getting on with this! what does the disco transfer box do better over the defender unit? Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Disco transfer box has higher gearing in the high range, which reduces engine speed for any given road speed. It's a bit of a trade off as the larger diameter tyres on a Defender means the end ratio is higher than a Discovery, which can impact on towing ability and low down grunt. Darren

Yes I had read that it could effect towing etc, however as I don’t intend doing a lot of it I reckon it was worth a trade off for better cruising speed along with lower interior engine noise 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0

A minor update- so spent the last week using these to top up what I did last year:
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Also I’ve got these ready for the impending tramission work - discovery transfer box and while we’re at it a new clutch as well. Pretty sure the clutch is past its best with the occasional slipping and high clutch pedal. Click image to enlarge However I’ve not doing the clutch/transfer box work - reckon it would be easier for a trusted garage to do it than me struggle by myself on the drive whilst losing the will to live. Anyway that’s down for this week to be done, then it’s on to sorting the crusty rear door skin out. 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0 1972 VW Beetle 1200 2002 Dax Rush 3.9 V8 2012 Audi A3 tdi 2020 Renault Kangoo electric |

Another improvement added this week in the form of a roof rack, ended up clamping it to the roll cage so it’s totally solid. Unfortunately it’s not a fancy aluminium one but the price was right and it will come in handy for the holidays this year as I can attach the roof box to it.
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Ideally it needs to be stripped and re powder coated, but for now it’s had a lick of matt black paint. 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0 1972 VW Beetle 1200 2002 Dax Rush 3.9 V8 2012 Audi A3 tdi 2020 Renault Kangoo electric |

The roof rack looks good on top, is it ok with no supports at the front down to the roll bar ?

Cheers Clayton, I’ve made a couple of supports for the front of the rack, one can just be made out in one of the pics, the other one still has wet paint, so that’s a job for later in the week. 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0

Bit of an minor update. Made a couple of improvements, first off changed the door strikers for the x-eng ones, bit fiddly to set up but got it sorted in the end
Click image to enlarge Secondly the stereo started to play up so I bought a pioneer model similar to one I have in the works pick up. Click image to enlarge Next job on the list is the replacing of the rear door skin, along with fitted the actuator for the central looking. 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0 1972 VW Beetle 1200 2002 Dax Rush 3.9 V8 2012 Audi A3 tdi 2020 Renault Kangoo electric |

Bit of a minor update, thought it was about time I tackled the rear door as it does let the rest of it down. So I’ve order a few repair sections from yrm and I already had the replacement skin so hopefully I can start on it next weekend.
Click image to enlarge All the bottom section on the door frame is gone along with the corners, and also some of the centre section of the frame, so a bit to repair but not a bad as I thought. 1999 300TDI 110 CSW BMW 3.0 1972 VW Beetle 1200 2002 Dax Rush 3.9 V8 2012 Audi A3 tdi 2020 Renault Kangoo electric |
