Id get that EGR binned off and removed from the ECU, Also see about replacing the injectors just to see if that cures the smoke. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

Thumbs Up egr is gone replaced with a snazzy removal kit featuring a boost gauge take off Cool

Yea need to look into the possible injector issue I will have a play tomorrow and see if I can find an issue, it may be the loom as it did have some oil in it before I cleaned it, New one should be here early next week so if I can’t find anything I can atleast rule that out once it’s here. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Well today I thought I would reprogram the injectors and let the engine come upto temp as I bleed the cooling system, smoke was minimal on tickover and it seemed to be ok, a quick spin produced loads of smoke on acceleration, ok slow down to a trundle only gone a few 100m so far then total loss of power and a locked engine Big Cry Big Cry no idea what’s happened, coolant has not dropped oil levels are good, Buggsy was pushed back into her place and I walked away, I guess tomorrow will be finding out what’s wrong now.

Anyone got a spare 15p they want to get rid of? Rolling with laughter 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

She runs Thumbs Up as you can see she’s currently putting out more smoke than a chally 2 on start up but she runs. Now my injectors are not coded to my ecu and for some reason I have 3 green Top and 2 black Top injectors, the white smoke stinks of diesel and it doesn’t seem to be drinking coolant so now a bit more fault finding is required.

Hi Mash. Although mixing green and black injectors will get you home I would suggest that they shouldn't be used long term due to the different pressures they work at; Black at 1500kPa (earlier 10p engine) and green at 1750kPa (later 15p and newer engines). If I recall correctly the green injectors have a longer range of movement in the plunger as well, for better efficiency and power.

Best get yourself a couple of replacement green injectors.

Also, even if the injectors are not coded to the ECU the engine will run, but not very well; lumpy at idle, slow throttle response and less top end... Check the idle error readings. Should be between -10 and +10 anything over that indicates there is something amiss.

Cheers Procta Thumbs Up going out on a limb and thinking you are on about 15 pence aposed to a 15p Td5 Whistle

Whipped the aux belt off and the rocker cover, and after hanging off the knuckle bar attached to the crank the engine is locked solid, so new plan is buy a replacement engine to get Buggsy up and running then split my block and investigate with a possible option of a rebuild with upgrades ( after Buggsy is fully sorted and Maggie is also). Anyone ever think they have too many projects?...................... Na me either Rolling with laughter 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html
