Cheers being from the Little Rock known as Guernsey I have a local insurance company called Islands whom insure my small fleet they are a subsidiary/linked in with NFU, basically they are the local office who trade for NFU, I have never had any problems insuring a varied variety of modifications over different vehicles. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

Cheers, NFU seems to be marmite on here, but maybe I’ll give them a bash when mines up for renewal and see what they’d say about a tune.

Long overdue update, well buggsy has always smoked a lot due to an existing map on the ecu and it’s finally time to try and solve it.
So I purchased this Click image to enlarge Now fitted it fills the front up, had to do some minor tolerance adjustments (hence the hammer ) Click image to enlarge 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Well yet again I am at this stage:
Click image to enlarge So with a few difficult starts over the past few weeks and a few ( read 3 tantrums as defenders don’t break down ) along with a very noisy fuel pump. I thought it was about time to swap over the injector seals, so waking up at stupid o’clock this morning and knowing I wouldn’t get back to sleep it made sense to make a start on buggsy, well all went good and she now fires up, runs fine and has a silent pump Looking at the copper washers she was definitely overdue new ones: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Let’s hope that’s all the issues sorted so I can go back to Maggie 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Well finally got time to do the post injector o-ring oil change last night, nice easy job drain oil, do some bits on Maggie bulkhead, refill oil and test then back onto Maggie bits, or not !
So oil topped up and a quick spin, hmm loads of black smoke, minimal boost pressure, lack of power and an excessive noise of air flow from the front So check all intercooler pipes and all good, then I spot this (remember this hasn’t been moved since I did the o-rings): Click image to enlarge Somehow the wastegate actuator has disconnected itself from the waste gate, thus leaving the wastegate wide open, right off with the heat shield, a check showed everything was free to move and I could put the actuator back on the waste gate, the e-clip is nowhere to be found but I’m not worried I have a spare engine for parts still............... okay so maybe imagine for a minute that one is missing too ............ hmmm expedient repair time Que the locking wire: Click image to enlarge That isn’t going anywhere now This really does sum up how jealous these Land Rovers get, throwing up faults like this because I have been working on other Land Rovers 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Well I have been wanting to do the gearbox oil since I’ve had Buggsy but the nice T55 plug was more round than Torxs like so I have been waiting till I got home to have use of a welder, I had previously tried all the other tricks and it wasn’t having any of it.
So out with the welder and a few old nuts: Click image to enlarge As you can see it took a few goes adding more weld each time. Click image to enlarge Drain plug had a few filings on it. Click image to enlarge Nice new filler. This really is a job showing you should always remove the filler BEFORE the drain plug The oil was a little low and very black so I’m hoping the gear changes will be a little nicer now, just waiting on some stainless screws to put the trans tunnel back together as the original screws were a little ripe. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

Well with the end of Sep upon us and the dark nights arriving fast I thought it was time to alter the front end of Buggsy with a few bits accrued for Maggie but I have now decided they will not work with my plan of her.
So as we know the small sun I have nestled on the roof rack of Buggsy is my “off road only” light as it’s a cheapo off eBay with a separate switch to prevent me using it on public roads. I had a spare set of Hella lights laying around (fully E-marked) so legal to use on public roads when correctly wired up with the main beams, so a purchase of a fused relay and some cable and I was away, with the boomslang loom fitted I had a spare headlight plug available that I could use as the trigger for my relay, a few minutes with a soldering iron and I had it all sorted Now here is the reward for reading all that bumf Click image to enlarge (Important Poppy nice and central ) Click image to enlarge And because I’m on private property and want to absolutely positively blind everyone: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |

After close to a 1000mi and lots of fuel I have made a few little upgrades and repairs, off the top of my head:
Fitted a new steering guard Strip the door card down to try and find the source of a squeak (think it was broken door card clips) doesn’t do it now Found some lights laying around so fitted them (yes more ) Adjust transmission brake Oh and due to a job change coupled with a new house on the horizon she has been very well loaded a few times Pics of the additions will follow 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html 90 V8 - Maggie http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic42564.html 110 TD5 - Buggsy http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic59029.html 52HG25 lightweight https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic72342.html D3 Hse - Fiona Capri 2l S - Anna Think I might have a problem............ |
