I own Yeaveley Estate.
A long established Shooting School near Ashbourne of some 50+ years. I have been a full time shooting instructor for 23 years. I am also the Membership secretary for APSI so I know numerous instructors around the UK & in other parts of the world. In many cases they may have been on an APSI course where I have been one of the course tutors. Guy May your life be like toilet paper ; long & useful. |

Cycled past it loads of times but never shot there. Had a lesson at Doveridge in the summer and was a little disappointed with it, so I might need your services at some point Guy! Ian |

Took this pair picking up today on a new shoot and had a cracking day. The pup came out on the second drive, where we were tucked out of the way behind gun no 10 so nice and quiet. She was more interested in chewing leaves / sticks than the shooting. Long after the drive I let her have a beetle around on the way back to the car and she picked two very dead birds without fuss and brought them back to hand. I know the arguments against taking a young dog out and if she was hot I wouldn’t, but she is pretty chilled and seems to take it in her stride. All good fun!

Sorry about being so far away....
I have a large group of Aussies who live in London who network & travel upto this part of the World 2 or 3 times of the year. Plus I did both a Stag party & a Hen party both organised from Oz this year. We attract people from all over the place ; that’s the best bit for me - meeting all sorts of people. All ready now for our Boxing Day clay shoot; today & tomorrow off then full on from the crack of dawn Boxing Day Have a safe & enjoyable Christmas- just remember some of us are working to make your Christmas fun . Ho Ho! I didn't shoot that bird but my dog ran in to pick it
Good day and to cap it all was the £100 fine on the day - for the fella who shot a guinea fowl!! Looking forward to Boxing Day. Happy hunting Huttopia! |

Not the best day to be out beating today.
Five hours in continuous wind-driven wet snow. No-ones clothes proved able to combat wet penetration for all that time. The most unpleasant day's beating most of us could remember. The 48 year old Land Rover took it all in its stride though. Click image to enlarge |

Yes it was damned cold today. I was shooting, my daughter was picking up and my son beating. He had the best job, it was brass monkeys standing around on the first couple of drives. The sun came out at lunchtime and the afternoon was much more enjoyable. However we’ve had another dusting of snow this evening so tomorrow could be properly icy first thing.
