If this is an indication of the future direction being taken by JLR you can kiss good bye to a Defender replacement.

be a strong chance it could end up been a hybrid or electric powered, with the way things are going. I can see land rover using the disco floor pan for cutting costs, laugh is it could even be a car! in that link in the post a bove Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back

There's a new Ford Bronco on the way. If it looks like either of these, my Defender days are definitely over, and I would have bought a Ford again after 34 years!

I'd be very interested to see the specs and more details on the Bronco. It looks like a proper 4x4, the type that hardly any manufacturers seem to make anymore.
Ford need to get the pricing right, their list prices are in the 'premium' bracket these days and people won't pay it for a Ford badge. The Edge is a fine example, can't remember seeing one on the road. With a list price starting at £34,295 they won't sell many when you could get a Discovery Sport or Evoque for that much. A £40k plus Bronco will be an equally rare sight in 2020, if it's in Discovery 5 territory. Due out sooner, in 2018, the Jeep Wrangler JL will probably be more affordable, if they don't hike the price too. £34k to £38k for beam axles and real capability, and a pickup version on the way. All engine options are over 200 bhp. I can't wait for more info on that, rumoured for unveiling at the Vegas Auto Show at the end of November. The new Suzuki Jimny also sounds interesting too. Meanwhile, Landrover is not making anything I want. |

One thing about jeep is support, cracking cars but they are a right pain to get parts for even from jeep them selves. My dad had a liberty and no one could read it at all ( diag wise) The parts were very expensive and he had to wait nearly a month for two sensors. Really did explain why so many were broken on ebay with square root of all damage.
also does jeeps hold the value too? I recon you are right about the ford mind, if they are going at that price, you could just go discovery for that money. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

Yes, I read that - about it having 4 doors only, but that info was only on one website, and it wasn't Ford saying it on there, so I hope that's wrong. Given the competition in the US for 4x4s I would hope that Ford would have the good sense to manufacture something along the lines of the above pics.
The new Suzuki Jimny didn't appear at the Tokyo motor show after all! Their PR department told me a few weeks ago that it is going to be released in 2018. Now left. |

You never know, the Tokyo Motor Show is still ongoing, so it may make a surprise visit!!! I doubt it, the next big international motor show is Detroit but as Suzuki no longer exports cars to the US then it's doubtful they'll announce it there. Looks like they're doing a JLR and keeping everyone guessing. Defender 90XS SW

I'm not on Facebook (am I the only person in the country not on it?), so I can't open it. What's it about, may find it on the net? Now left.
