Needed to sort out a new tyre on the Mrs's Focus. As she starts work at 4am I wasn't about to take to work.
Decided to do a car swap. Took the 110 to the supermarket where she works, and the took the Focus for a new tyre. Came back to her works and left the Focus and went in to tell her where it was. As I walked passed my 110 there was an X6 parked next to it. Informed the Mrs of the new location and headed back out side to the car park. Minding my own business and playing catch with the car keys for the 110 a chap walks towards me Chap - Have you got a set of jump leads? is that your Defender. Me - Yea I have set. Chap - any chance of a jump start, the people doing the valeting have left doors open and now I have a flat battery Me - OK see you at the valeting tent in mo. Drive over and got jump leads from the back of the 110. Chap - Cheers for the this, I asked the X6 owner but he had none, but the X6 chap suggested the owner of the 110 might (I think he spotted the 110 with the Anderson plug on the front) I plugged in the jump leads and the chap connected to the battery, a few tries of the other car and brum. Worth having the Anderson on the front for the jump leads (on the same feed as the winch and also Isolated as well) 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Parked in the centre of Nottingham, but the ticket machine didn't issue a ticket. Logged a call on the helpline number provided, but still came back to find a penalty notice on the screen.

Hi well it was yesterday but the day got off to a good start, for the last couple of weeks the heater hasn't been getting up to temperature also the faster I went the cooler the temperature gauge got,so I ordered a new thermostat, gaskets and hoses while I was draining the system anyway it made sense to replace the 3 pipes,so I went up my mates farm and we drained the system, replaced the above parts and refilled the system,I then lifted him back up on the 4 post ramp to drain the oil and change the filter, I undid the drain plug I'd noticed a slight weep from this so assumed it was the sump plug washer but no as I undid the bolt it had snapped so a 15 minute job turned into a right royal pain in the ar:e,luckily my mate had a drill bit that dealt with this and managed to unthread the rest of the bolt out and result he had a transfer box under some racking and the drain plug was a direct replacement all sorted and filled it back up and took it for a short drive and all good temperature reading correctly and the heater is getting to temperature again, while I was up there my mate said he had picked up a nice Range Rover I think he said it was 1990ish and it is a ltd edition Janspeed model I didn't get a chance to have a look at it but next time I'm up there I will have a look Paul

When I bought my optimill quick release boss and security cone they told me they had to be matched so I order the complete set together ,they all work lovely, steering wheel comes off easy and no movement when fitted ,the cone is now fast to fit and even quicker to remove it does need a bit of patients and with a very small mod it can be fitted in the dark in seconds which just saves turning on the light or opening the door.

Two jobs done. New VCV on the fuel pump to cure the lumpy idle which seems to have worked. Then I fitted my Birthday Present, a Tuff Trek Kargo Karrier, in the hope of making boot space more useable.

Put a few bits up for sale on eBay last night that I had to go, like my Roolites and other wiring bits and pieces.
Finished off a bit of painting of some parts yesterday too. Today, just got the trailer out and brought a load of hay bales home and other stuff. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Not strictly my Defender, but my (very sadly, now departed) mother's TD5 90 carried me home having dropped mine off for some new toys to be fitted (more on that soon).
211.7 miles, 32.32 litres of diesel. My maths makes that a little over 29 mpg. Not bad for several hours on the motorway with the majority at 65-70mph! |
