As if I needed reminding. They don’t make ‘em like they used to.......

Yes the pumas filter seems pretty insignificant.
It does its job though. The filter housing is flimsy, ok as long as you don't drop it 😏

Hello v8bobber

I thought the same when first 'confronted' with the Cartridge vs Steel (how they should look) version... Shocked

'load' the Cartridge (Filter) with new oil prior to fitting into Filter Housing
Replace large Rubber O Ring around Filter Housing (also oiled)
and whilst the Housing 'states' (is marked) to tighten to 25NM...
press on until you reach 35NM... or she'll leak... Embarassed

Have serviced the Puma a few times so an old hat at it but just happened to put the new filter down next to one due to go on my old 90 and really reinforced the diffence in size.

Maybe the new oil filters are made by the same people that make Mars bars as they were bigger when I was younger aswell!!

Playing devil’s advocate, but have you ever opened the white casing up to see how big the filter inside is, as opposed to the body? Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

to be honest the paper elements aren't a new idea. It's what cars used to have before there were the spin on filters, the old metal housings for them were awful leak prone things, unlike the modern plastic ones. The spin on ones probably only have the same size element in them.

I'm not really sure it makes much difference really. Marginally less messy than fishing the element from the plastic housing but thats about all.
