I measured the 12V to the dipped headlamp when switched to main beam and it dropped to 8V which indicates to me that it has a dim-dip relay fitted? Looking at the wiring diagram I have, it shows it as relay dim-dip R126. On my 2010 defender where is it located?? Click image to enlarge Zera If it ain't broke don't fix it! If you have one, it's the tall one top right in the CJB (ie the fuse box under the dash).

After all of that when I removed the relay is only had two pins (odd I'm thinking) when I took the back off it was just a shorting line between the top and bottom pins. So it looks like it dim-dip was disabled all the time after all! If it ain't broke don't fix it! |

I have fitted a hella DRL that has a "smart" controller
I simply wired it to the alternator per instructions (yes permanent live The smart controller is essentially a voltage sensitive relay that turn the lights on if a charging voltage is detected. Works great |

So wire the DRL positive to alternator as permanent love
And earth to earth on a/c compressor housing Then the Parker wired to the positive low beam wire so the DRL became Parkers at night |
