Wire them up like on the disco 1 and 2, they had a switch to stop the rear passengers from using them. Ray

Nice idea blackwolf but with 2 boys of 4 and 2 who are already smacking each other I only think boxing gloves might escalate things

Is it so far plug / bolt and play?
Does it require any drilling etc? I contacted Andy and he said its in one of the magazine soon so will probably see more of them. Looks like another thing to add to the list. I quite like where the buttons are on the back of the cubby as I can reach them as well as the kids. OUrs are 6 and 9 so are generally better at being told what to do

I was in touch with Andy at VCD also about these, but the finer details, like how the wiring loom is routed etc is all very vague and sounds a little like he's not actually fitted the product himself/had it fitted.

Yes plug n play - as I like it. No need to fabricate/bodge anything !
As shown above one of the mounting holes used, previously had a clip for CL loom. If you wanted you could drill another hole for the clip, but as the clip was so tight to the loom I was unable to slide it down - don't want to damage the wiring and create issues in the future. However the loom is still well supported. to close the windows I needed 12v power so used jump leads from battery and some short lengths of wire from the jump leads to the terminals in the motor plug. this either raised or lowered the mechanism, allowing mee to position for easiest access to bolts for connecting to window tabs. Small spacers are supplied to go between the tabs and mechanism. Dropped twice but they didn't roll far ! The bolt on the left is a LR original from holding the manual winder and the one on the right was supplied for mounting the mechanism. As they are the same I just re-used what came to hand. The original cross head screws for the tabs were not used as they are harder to remove, requiring pressure which could bring a James May " oh c  k"moment.

The routing will be pretty self explanatory. I have laid it out to see what goes where etc. Relay and fuse would be mounted in battery box and wiring routed from there via grommets already fitted to your cubby box. I thought about matching switches with the front but this would require a much larger and deeper switch box that people would say was too big so you can't win. Also, do you want the switches on the door card instead or on dash for easier driver access. As my doorcards are going to be custom built due to issue I had early on with proximity of my Bpost hoop for roll cage this may be an option for me - however matching switches will be too long for where they are best operated by a strapped in passenger. I knew I should have taken a close up photo of the switches !!
They had six contacts on them I will compare with some RR classic ones, though the ones supplied look perfectly capable. It took longer to get the old manual winders out than it took to fit the new electric ones !! I nearly went for the Hofele system when it was available but glad I didn't now. |

However for me as I have an auto console, I'd prefer not to drill or cut this .....yet ! I think that adding switches to my Td5 dash would be preferable as then I can reach easily. No use for this area of dash and if a passenger in the rear wants their window down they can ask ! I acquired this switch in photo below a long time ago. It has 6 connections for each side. Does anyone recognise what vehicle it would have come from?? Can't remember myself !

Looks like quite a good kit with everything included.
Switches look ok, I think Defender ones have 6 pins so could swap? I like the location in a pod behind the rear cubby box, that way they rear passengers can reach them and I can also, Does it come with this pod? Keep me updated on how plug and play it is... Thanks |

Yes switch pod is part of kit.
It is as plug and play as you can get when Land Rover didn't offer rear electric windows. |

Just ordered my kit from Andy Limbert, should arrive tomorrow.
At long last the bungee cords which stop my rear windows from opening themselves may soon become a thing of the past!  |
