Gents
The Landrover man is telling me that there is too much play in the 110s prop shaft and that the transfer box shaft thingie is goosed ( I think that he's right) but how much play should there be, just so I can check Thanks Wes Oh woe, oh woe My crusty old landrover, It will not go. |

If you are on about propshaft yokes, there should be no play in them, sometimes a small amount of play can be taken up by greasing, the problem is a lot of people neglect the props and fail to grease them, this leads to premature wearing of the bearings inside the yokes. 90 wolf - Jasmin http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic39408.html

I'm no expert but can't see how without taking the gearbox apart he can determine the transfer box shaft thingie is goosed - assuming he's referring to the well known problem of the extension shaft / adapter shaft? good luck whatever - remember in terms of rotational slack there always appears to be quite a bit. |

Get underneath and ask him to show you what he means, there's only one way to learn for yourself - get your hands dirty and feel the play for yourself.

For the transfer gears yes but not the extension / adapter shaft.
