Doors not latching
With the first snows of winter, or autumn upon us and the temperature dropping, I have re discovered a wee problem I had last year. As the temperature drops, I have noticed that both my doors no longer close as easily as when the weather is more temperate. They need a deliberate push close to stop them from popping open onto the first bit of the catch. If I 'slam' them they pop open, if I hold the door as it closes I have more chance of it staying put. Anyone else got this problem, and even better - has anyone fixed it?? Is it seals, lubrication in the catches or something else? Watching eagerly for remedies Thumbs Up

My passenger door appears to suffer with the temperature RoddyK05 - I thought it was just me Neutral

My wife (the main user of said door) said that it only happens when the temperature drops and I think she's right.

Both my striker plates are relatively new (and have the nylon bush in tact) and they close perfectly in the warmer weather Confused

I look forward to reading any suggested remedies

Fantastic, I'll be giving that a go at the weekend - although I would have said mines were pretty clean, but a proper clean and re-grease can't do any harm at all. Here's hoping. Bow down

Thumbs Up it work door new seal will not latch good clean as per Geobloke write up and you shut the door from inside too

Try X Engineering replacement latches. The useless/soon damaged nylon bush is gone and the latch is much less likely to rip your jeans or trousers!

Adjustment is easy and my 110 TD5 doors now close with a gentle push!

Just done mine. Completely bunged up with accumulated spray grease, dirt, dust, dog hair etc. Now clean as a whistle. I lubricated them again with PTFE dry lubricant in the hope they won't accumulate the grime again as quickly, but we shall see. Certainly sound a lot better and passenger door now seems to be closing, so will see how it goes over the coming weeks. Doors all looking a lot better now.

Down to Halfords today for brake cleaner and white scooshy grease. Done in no time, it seems to be better but I await a drop in the temperature again for the acid test. It can't fail to have made a difference, hopefully that's it for a while. Same issue here. Strange its always the passenger side!

Brake cleaner does the trick.
