I've not looked too hard so forgive me if it's been mentioned already.
I've now got launch control which for me is at best a safety net should I suddenly forget how to drive but it got me thinking - surely this would be a useful feature on the rally cars / bowlers. Do they also have this feature as I presume it would be most beneficial on a loose surface / quick get away and if not why? I've tested just for the sake of it but have no intention of making a habbit of it as I'm sure it won't be contributing to the longevity of the transmission. Do the bowlers have it - or anyone else for that matter? Presumably rallying is where it would be most useful? |

I wanted to revive this thread and ask acuss01 if you are still happy with your Bowler Stage 1 Tune after well over a year living with it.
- Any issues/comments? - How many miles have you covered? - Any idea how MPG is affected? - Would you still recommend it? - Have you had to 'test' the warranty issue with either Bowler or LR? Any other Bowler tune enthusiasts out there? |

Hey Dunc, had the Stage 1 Bowler tune for about 15 months now, done about 10k miles in that time. Very happy with it, still one of the best mods I've had.
As many people know, Bowler's stage 1 ECU is supplied by Pete at BAS, but I opted to pay more for Bowler to supply and fit to avoid warranty issues (and get some sexy stickers!). Truth is I've not needed to test warranty as vehicle has been fine. Indeed when I took it to dealer for 1st year service I mentioned the tune as a precaution, but they didn't bat an eyelid. Fuel consumption is about 325-350 miles a tank (although in practice I only fill with 65 litres as I don't run it past the warning light). I would recommend it as it makes the truck much more responsive and easier to drive. When I get some cash I will consider a Bowler suspension and/or Stage 2 tune Btw I did end up changing insurer from NFU to A Plan as the latter have a positively enlightened attitude to Bowler et al. Cheers.
I had thought the 170 BHP 'tune' from BAS also 'needed' the intercooler? Must drive very nicely I am sure! YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

i think you'll find that with the 170hp tune you may not need it in the UK, or during winter in Australia, but you would certainly need it in Aussie Summer!! |

I have the BAS 170AB tune and with towing a horse trailer was advised to get the intercooler by Pete. Even without the towing I personally would have fitted the intercooler anyway. I just think you're increasing the power by 40% surely that needs a bigger intercooler? James
