How to remove the plastic side vent

Hello

I have this shinny metal vent for my truck off a forum member who did not require it

How does the original vent come off? from the inner wing and push out? there does not seem to be any screws on the outside like the new one?

I removed mine at the weekend, it just pulled out, but it did leave a couple of it's little locating lugs behind. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Can the 'lugs' be put back in when re fitting the new one?

Just prized it out from the outside with a plastic spatula so as not to damage surrounding paint . As above, it was those little lugs that remained in the car. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

They re prone to breaking as suggested already.

I'd keep well away from paint, use some stiffish wire and thread through and back out again in a 'U' shape.
If required use multiple pieces through the grille.
It'll then act as a puller and you can evenly distribute the force better, but even then the devils do break on the pins.

LR I believe use a tool like a flat bladed screwdriver but the tip bent 45degrees and use that as a puller instead. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Since I own the Defender my attitude to clearing up the house/attic/garage etc. changed from "nah, I'll never need this thing again -> throw away" to "nah, I'll never need this thing again -> store in a very safe place"
