Puma independent in Surrey/Sussex - advice | |
A month ago I had a problem with my 2009 Puma 2,4 (84k miles) started to overheat and it has progressively got worse. Alas, I dont use the landy during the week and have been pretty busy with work and family activities so have not had the time to focus on the problem
It started out with leaking some coolant which I replaced, it then went to over pressuring and more coolant being lost via the expansion cap and the dreaded limp mode. I started to track the coolant temperature via the ScanGaugeII and was surprised by the fluctuating temp readings which ranged from 80-106 Deg C. When pottering around at low speeds 30-50 MPH all went well but when I was on the motorway @ 70MPH the temperature went up and sat around 99-106 and when going up a hill it went higher and over pressurised so had to keep my speed to 60 and all was ok'ish!
Replaced the thermostat this week and replaced the coolant but today the problem was worse in that even at low speed 30-40MPH the temp was sitting at 104 and once went to 110 deg c and then limp mode for few seconds. The cab heater also stopped today (normally works a treat) so checked the coolant pipe work and no leaks although the top pipe from the rad was very hot and hard.Followed the process shared on the forum to bleed air out the system and went to my friendly indi, but sadly they are more familiar with TD5's as they race them.
I am now at the end of my capabilities (space, time, skills) so am on search for a Surrey/London/West Sussex independent who would have experience with Puma engines. Any help/advice from any of you would be well received and appreciated.
I am considering extending my search to Ford independents with skills fixing transit but would like opinions on this please?
Regards,
Steve
