Clutch!!!!!
What is the part number or the reference number of the clutch that won't fail every 25.000 km!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'm very disapointed, it will be the second clutch!!!! the first time, it just make noise, then we changed, now it make a Defender stops!!! it's ridiculous, with a car that runs 80% of time in good tarmac!!!

The question is, the latest clutch models had this disc spring problems solved?

Because if not, I prefer to change to a 200 or 300 glorious Tdi!!!

Sorry about the outflow!!!!

If someone could help, I will be gratefull!!!

I will just call for LR assistence, but if the car was a unit of an army around the world and was in the middle of battle field and the clutch failed????? With a Toyota it will never happen!!!

I'm on my third clutch in 20000 km, this one seems ok so far.

When I took one out for a spin I changed into second but it wasn't having it, so back into first to get the revs right up then into second. With my Series and TD5 you didn't need to get the speed right up for it to pull away in second. The turbo comes in quite late at 2600 rpm (my SAAB comes in at roughly 1600 rpm), I wonder if it is driving style although I doubt it and it shouldn't matter anyway - clutches just should not be going!

Going back to the OP question, I also wonder if they have developed a better clutch?

Turbo at 2600rpm Shocked there's something wrong there then, don't compare all Pumas to your one quick spin. Thumbs Up Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Second clutch? I´m on my third!
Is you r engine running smooth or somehow rough? Since a long time there is a 2nd type but there are some landies that keep failing. Puma 110" SW

The clutch was replaced under warranty about early 2010, owing to the cluch springs rattling when the engine was turned off. Have had no bother since and it is a joy to drive. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Ok!!

But for each you that had your clutches failed, how occur by a way that makes the vehicle impossible of keep going?

And, how much miles or kilometers those who imagine that the latest clutch is doing well already done with this clutch?

And, Land Rover did or didn't a clutch modification? Is another reference number for the clutch that don't fail?
What is the diference betwen the good and bad clutches?

About the engine, Is it could be damanging clutches because of it's running rough? How? And how to solve? (It's software already been upgraded in a service buletin, and I prefered the old version!, but...)
I note some rough but not sure about it!

thanks for the repplyes!!

regards!!

So far there is just one "upgrade". Roughness as a cause is just a theory. The friction plate has a central damper with small coils to absorb "some roughness at idle and making the gearbox input shaft quiet. Probably at some point those coils get knackered. Overall the friction plate has a progressive mechanism where 2 big tight spring coils are stressed and then a second pair (loosen ones) follow at greater stress. Probably in your case the central hub is absolutely gone. If you have not mod anything then I would ask for a proper engine tune at your dealer.

Search about this topic and you`ll see a picture of my clutch with some explanations.

Keep us posted.

Spain
Hi, I dont kow the part nr. But.

on my defedner 2009 110sw the clutch burned trough at 38K km. I got the car with 9k from the dealer. use it at wotk for towing etc. and some offroad, The local landrover dealer here in spain did chane the clutch under warranty. I paid 1000 euros for a nrw one. I think it was ridicilus. the dealer argued that it was my driving. I drove many landys already, this is the first clutch i burn. i find it very stange...

Can anyone tell me about the land rover warranty in this case.

thanks Wink 2009 Defender 110 SW
