Fairly insignificant really but at long last I got the SS headlight fixing kit bought and arrived today.
Just sort out some LED headlights in due course and possibly Land Reziger loom.

if you are fitting LED headlights, there's no point fitting the loom ... LED headlights operate from 9-18v and draw about 35watts

How about possible voltage loss though? Surely that still has an effect all be it most likely on a much lesser scale. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

After fitting new front calipers and pads, and overhauling the rear calipers for the last MOT, I still wasn't completely happy with my brakes. Did the 'pump, then start' test this morning and the pedal didn't drop with the engine running. I then checked the servo, and found a crack around the area where the top nut mounts the master cylinder to the servo.
A nice new TRW servo is now in it's place, and my brakes are awesome!! I'd recommend anyone who thinks their braking may be a bit 'off' to check their servo. A nice easy 20 minute fix. Jon. Defender 90 TD5 CSW - The longer I own it, the newer it gets!! |

Makes no difference at all. The majority of LED headlights are regulated internally - i.e. they reduce the incoming voltage/current t that needed by the LEDs and the electronics. That's why some are rated from 9V to 24V. I fitted LED headlights (Nolden) and side/tail/indicators (RDX) not only because they provide better illumination, but also because the head and side lights reduce the current draw through the main headlight switch. I have had a headlight switch melt and now carry a spare under the drivers seat, together with a few other items that I've had fail such as the white plug on the bottom of the fuel filter. Nosnibod - Reduced current through switch can only be seen as a good thing, significantly lower current draw in fact.

Meant to add that the switch I had melt was before I fitted the LEDs. I can't remember the figures now but I remember working out that it roughly halved the current through the switch.
When I got our new 110 last year I swapped all the lights to LEDs immediately. After a while I didn't like the J W Speaker Evo 2 'look' (I kept them after trading in our old 110) so swapped to Noldens. I really must put the Evo 2s up for sale soon - they've been sat in the garage for a year Dave

Yes, half current draw sounds about right and was what I was thinking as a guesstimate.
I like the Noldens too, I don't doubt the quality abd output but the price is still hefty. Popped into the paint shop on the way home to see the new bulkhead. Two pics I managed to get
