on the PUMA the gearbox breather is NO LONGER in the engine bay! it is just some some cm over the bellhousing!
So if you go fording take care to raise all breathers and air intakes.....

...I read somewhere, long before I bought my 110, that in the Puma there was no need do raise the breathers of the diffs and gearbox ... it was taken care off Question

And when I bought the snorkel there was no breathers kit like my TD5 used to have ... I was told there was no need for it ... Question Question Question Is it ?

You are correct

That was off here and came from mantec i recall Mike

We checked 3 different Pumas from 2007 to 20010. None had a gearbox breather longer tha a couple of centimeters!

And it is needed, judging by the oil/water mix in my 130..... WANTED:

SII or SIII in max 1.5k

Mines the same...gearbox, transfer box and front axle....rear axel is at the back with the fuel tank breather (although since having the new one i have no idea where that is! Mike

Take the end tube (left side in the pic above) and fit an extension up to the engine bay or further up. Or a non-return valve (eg. AMR6676). Puma 110" SW

i personally dont think its needed, spent atleast an hour under mine today checking this out, and mine gearbox breather is in the engine bay next to the other ones. maybe this small breather is only on the 130? although i cant see why. Just for reference, mines a def 90, 60 plate new from dealer, and i havnt fitted a wading kit or whatever. might ring mantec on monday and ask opinion.

Aparently, even with a landrover snorkel fitted ( as in the mantec one fitted by a dealer), the maxiumum wading depth covered on warrenty is 500mm, which is daft!

probs cause of the ecu placement Rolling with laughter

Land Rover don't seal the whole system up, so it is just a Raised Air Intake to keep dust out Wink

Mantec doesnt do a wading kit for a puma. I asked them when i first got mine, he said "not needed". Mine also has breathers of decent length.

but thr 500mm thing is worth mentioning, because when i took mine in because the lower door seals wer leaking, and the battery box was Censored in water, the service guy said "ah yes, not covered, youre not supposed to wade more than 500mm", which is hilarious, since on a LR experience day, in a defender you go over the bonnet in water. Its corporate crap to protect themselves from people use defenders for what they are supposed to actually do. In fact the guy was so snotty about it, he made a note to add to my file "wades deeper than recommnended". I won't be going back there (James Edwards, Brock)

also, got snotty remarks at james edwards, when i turned up in mine to complain about a rattly dashboard, and the service guy kept questioning me why i had a snorkel etc etc. On another note, has anybody found a way of making the ECU watertight in a puma yet? sealed both my seat boxes today when i fitted my winch, but wasnt really liking the ecu placement
