Of all the debates and lies spouted by politicians recently I thought this morning’s SUN summed up the case for leaving brilliantly.
Copied from this mornings SUN's front page WE are about to make the biggest political decision of our lives. The Sun urges everyone to vote LEAVE. We must set ourselves free from dictatorial Brussels. Throughout our 43-year membership of the European Union it has proved increasingly greedy, wasteful, bullying and breathtakingly incompetent in a crisis. Next Thursday, at the ballot box, we can correct this huge and historic mistake. It is our last chance. Because, be in no doubt, our future looks far bleaker if we stay in. Outside the EU we can become richer, safer and free at long last to forge our own destiny — as America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and many other great democracies already do. And as we were the first to do centuries ago. If we stay, Britain will be engulfed in a few short years by this relentlessly expanding German dominated federal state. For all David Cameron’s witless assurances, our powers and values WILL be further eroded. Staying in will be worse for immigration, worse for jobs, worse for wages and worse for our way of life. Greece is bankrupt. Italy is in danger of going the same way, with even more disastrous consequences. In Spain, 45 per cent of those under 25 are out of work. And numerous even poorer and worse-governed countries are now joining the EU. To remain means being powerless to cut mass immigration which keeps wages low and puts catastrophic pressure on our schools, hospitals, roads and housing stock. In every way, it is a bigger risk. The Remain campaign, made up of the corporate establishment, arrogant Europhiles and foreign banks, have set out to terrify us all about life outside the EU. Their “Project Fear” strategy predicts mass unemployment, soaring interest rates and inflation, plummeting house prices, even world war. The Treasury, Bank of England, the IMF and world leaders have all been wheeled out by Downing Street to add their grim warnings. Nonsense! Years ago the same politicians and economists issued apocalyptic predictions about our fate if we didn’t join the euro. Thank God we stopped that. The single currency’s stranglehold has since ruined the EU’s poorer nations and cast millions on the dole. We are told we cannot be in the single market without accepting all the rules, free movement of people included,If so, let’s leave it and, using our enormous clout as the world’s fifth biggest economy, strike great trade deals with the other 85 per cent of the world. And pick and choose the best migrants from the whole world. If we stay in the EU, as Cameron wants, we will finally give up any chance of controlling our population. Cameron admits it. Vote Leave, and we will reassert our sovereignty — embracing a future as a self-governing, powerful nation envied by all. We will re-establish the basic principle that we are governed by politicians we elect or eject every five years, not foreign bureaucrats. The Sun has campaigned relentlessly against the ever-expanding superstate. But the EU cannot reform. Remain has conducted a deceitful campaign. It has been nasty, cynical, personally abusive and beneath the dignity of Britain. Our country has a glorious history. This is our chance to make Britain even greater, to recapture our democracy, to preserve the values and culture we are rightly proud of. A VOTE FOR LEAVE IS A VOTE FOR A BETTER BRITAIN. I agree on most of your points, but how can you suggest that the Leave camp are not making their point in a non dictorial way when they go to speak they can't even get their point across. Mainly due to some kind of Luddite shouting from the audience because he thinks he might loose a few quid. This ref, has nothing to do with bracketry on age, gender, race or politics. So why were SNP's Sturgeon remain warrior for example bringing Tory cuts into it.... It's nothing to do with it, she's out for Scotland in the UK but in for the UK. Smell of hypocrisy and desiration is in the air. The leave campaign suggests to the public to decide for themselves, which the will. The remain camp are practically telling and ordering people to remain. Of course, one does have to remember when we leave according to Remain that there will be WW3. |

Stirring stuff indeed from Mr Murdoch.
I'm still undecided - but interesting little read today on the BBC site regarding the Norwegian model: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/3648...pean-union So assuming we were to go down a similar trading agreement route, just how much 'freedom' do we actually get regarding immigration, Euro Regulations etc.? Seems like not a lot at all, rather diluting Mr Murdoch's point. Unless we negotiate different terms than the Norwegians, but is that even going to be possible? Or do we even need a trade agreement with Europe at all - I'm guessing we do? Still confused. |

Ads90 - Yes, I was looking into that the other day too.
Norway, is not in the EU but trades with it under agreement, I though this was banned according to Remain? 
Of course the Eurocrats want to say it's impossible, they don't want that to be the case. They need us more than them. Currently the figures are we purchase around £40 million approx of goods from the EU, but they buy only £10 million from us. That is asking for trouble in its self for us, that is bringing us down. Take German Aldi and Lidl for example for supermarkets. *Worth noting if you shop at Lidle according to Cameron you are a "Lidl person" with pun intended. *
What a stupid comment to make. I never knew the Euro beurocrats were also on around £80k a year plus £40k expenses until recently, that is our money too amongst other Euro countries. Nor do we directly elect them, but they have power over us. Look at this stupid 'E' marking rubbish of auto lighting for example. I realise that, though how times change, I recall when he was the Conservatives biggest supporter in anything they did right or wrong. Also it is no surprise to me that the SUN has come out on the leave side. However, I do not feel I am doing Murdoch’s bidding by agreeing with a lot of that editorial. I also do not believe the Sun is manipulating its readership instead it is only confirming what a lot of people are thinking and if this morning’s poll results are true then it is indeed a lot of people. I am also aware that Murdoch at times thinks he runs this country and that he has very little clout or voice in the EU which galls him. But in reality he is an old man, who will die sooner than later, in fact he is on most people’s ‘dead pool’ list, and if the unrestrained sexual libido of Jerry Hall does not finish him off then the rapidly advancing years will. No matter what the SUN’s agenda is I agree with most of what they have said and that is not through the employment of cleverly phrased words or erroneous facts, but instead what I have seen and witnessed myself over the years we have been in the EU. I am old enough to have voted in the first EU referendum and I voted ‘No’ in that, nothing has significantly changed in my life time for me to make me change that no vote in this referendum . Don't believe a word that comes out of any of Murdochs publications regarding Brexit. This is the man who once asked why he was so opposed to the EU

Is Britain only about money though these days?
Seems about the only thing people think about these days over everyone and anything else. Martin Lewis would have a lot of personal benefits of remaining in, in his job. At a house built every 7 minutes, everyone knows we can't sustain that. I for one don't want to live around nothing but houses and cars and have no countryside left for a starting point. Ultimately it's a personal decision to make. |

Do I believe The Sun?
Do I believe the politicians on the Leave and Remain side? None of the papers or politicians have given a proper reasoned, structured discussion outlining their views. Look at one of the The Sun statements about immigration and low wages. So what happens to wages if immigration is stopped overnight? Would wages go up? If so prices go up. Not exactly good news if you are on low or fixed income. What about the exchange rate? Now the £ is basically at a 10 year low against the US$ Roughly at the same level as 2008 and the main financial crisis. Yes our exports will be cheaper BUT cost of oil/fuel is increasing. Diesel used to to be £1/litre a few months ago now £1.10/litre Now £ is at a 2 year low against the euro. After the financial crisis in 08 the £ has been gaining steadily against the euro from about 1.15 to 1.45 euros to £ Then Brexit reared its head and in 6 months we have lost about 15% against the euro and are now at 1.25 euro to £. Britain imports food from Europe so with a falling euro our food will cost more. Against the JPY we are at a 2 year low so cost of imports? The JPY has suffered post 08 Now neither side have even tried to say what will happen to exchange rates basically because they do not know. However simple fact is that if the £ drops against the USD, EURO and JPY then cost of living in the UK will go up. Does the EU need reforming? YES Does anyone actually KNOW what will happen to the UK after June 23rd whichever way the vote goes? NO Brendan |

As the song says money makes the world go round & whilst I agree with you about the houses and cars his blog doesn't tell you what to do, unlike the other vested interest parties filling TVs and newspapers, it gives the financial facts - as he says that's his speciality subject - and lets the reader draw his own conclusions whether he / she is risk adverse or not.
