Engine addict
I just watched the one where he used a KTM 125 engine to power a flying trike, overshot the landing and broke his leg. I like the engineering bits but clearly the guy didn't seem to have a scooby about how to fly the damn thing. Is watching a guy break his leg entertainment?

James De Ville is a very clever guy, I went to Iraq with him in 2006 and spent 8 months there. He is an extremely competent engineer (obviously)

I do have to agree with you that flying a machine without little or any training was pretty stupid, but no different to (the old) Top gear crashing cars, I know it didn't happen very much, but it did happen..

I think it shows a good point to would-be engineers that not everything goes to plan in engineering.. I work with the Bloodhound SSC Land speed record team, we are asked to emphasise the fact to children that things do go wrong in engineering but its all a learning curve.. Adapt and overcome..

On another note, he's a great guy with tons of enthusiasm for engineering but in my opinion those choppers have o go Rolling with laughter

Arte Et Marte My 1986 90 is currently on a full rebuild, with new chassis, Paint etc.. Very much a hybrid, TD5 Chassis, tub & bulkhead with a 200TDI and LT77 GB Painted in Stornoway Grey Smile 2 years off the road, but getting close to completion now

He's clearly a clever guy with huge enthusiasm, perhaps the tv folk talked him into doing what he did. Be great if he looked at the 200 or 300tdi!
