Interesting Yolo. My old white SW had loads of tiny stains, almost like little rust marks, from tar. Would WD40 work on that? How will it affect the paint, if at all? Ta Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

Helped a Mate start turning is recently acquired MY11 2.4 SW into something a little smarter. The 'face' first, (KBX grille, intakes and vent, sill chequer plate, Defender lettering), wheels and other bits to come. Also tinkered with my recently sold white SW (new bumper, side steps, NAS rear step etc) before delivery to new owner later today. And also added parts to my new DC, photos to come when finished Thumbs Up

In my experience, WD 40 does not harm paint... Whistle

Another TOP TIP... it is also GREAT for removing those really annoying finger marks from stainless steel appliances like fridges and microwaves as well! Thumbs Up YOLO... You Only Live Once...

Got called out to recover a work mate and his 1st recovery vehicle that also got stuck on Sunday.
They where both left over night in the bush.
Had to winch from the bottom as to wet to get access from above them.

I made my own seat risers out of some left over box section. Rubbish pic but I'm well pleased with the result.

Be careful - used it on my XC90 once to try and free up the tailgate latch (which seized as the pin through it rusts). Left obvious streaking to the paintwork below. Try it on paintwork somewhere out of direct view first.

Finally got round to fitting the sub and the cubby box lid I saved from my last defender.
The sound is so much better now.

Ordered a cubby box cover from Melvill and Moon to match the seat covers in the Heritage. They have some really nice looking kit on their site, lots of it to match the covers. The field bar looks blinding!

If it's tar that you want to remove, the best stuff is simple kerosene. soak a small cloth in kero, some light rubbing, gently let the kero soak in, and the tar will disappear. Got this tip from my guru car resto friend,..always does the trick for me....followed by a light polish to reseal the paint.

Thanks Pickles. The car, being white with big chunky Coopers, is covered in the stuff. Can't see it from a distance, but close up looks like rust coloured chicken pox. Big Cry Monsieur Le Grenadier

Changed the KBX air intake and wing top vents back to the standard ones.
I want to live with the more original look before I decide if it's a permanent change.

It's just a nice evening to be outside in the sun.

Took Gracie to the dealers this morning - leaking rear crank seal, loads of transmission backlash and the start of the clutch spring death-rattle. Not bad for 14 months old and 24,000 miles.

So, since the gearbox is coming out anyway, they are checking/sorting the intermediate shaft and possibly the drive flanges at the same time. New clutch of course.

They gave me a Discovery Sport as a courtesy car. Arrived at work after a 60 miles drive, parked up...

...left work a few hours later - stood on the steps overlooking the car park and couldn't for the life of me remember what on earth it was I was looking for, or even the colour. Eventually found it by pressing a button on the remote to get it to flash its lights.

Nice car, but no soul - it made no impression on me whatsoever. Might as well have been a new fridge... Dave
